About The Position

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in shaping the growth and development of the Identity and Access Management team here at Best Buy. This teams is responsible for the building cutting edge Identity and Access management solutions for Best Buy's digital customers and build technical solutions. This role is hybrid, which means you will work some days on site at a Best Buy location and some days from home or another non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.

Requirements

  • 5 years of relevant experience in JVM (Java, Spring / Groovy) based software development.
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • 3 years of experience in building distributed systems at scale.
  • 2 years of experience leading engineering teams to include technical leadership, work direction, coaching and mentoring.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years of recent Java, Spring, Groovy or related technologies
  • Experience building/integrating Identity and Access Management Products
  • 3 years of recent React Native experience
  • 2 years of recent NoSQL database experience (Cassandra, Riak, etc.)
  • Familiarity with CDN/Edge Computing
  • 1 year of experience with Caching
  • Experience building relationships with non-technical stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Lead the staffing of two engineering teams and ensure the quality and integrity of the SDLC for those teams.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in development practices, standards, and tooling.
  • Partner with the product managers to define objectives and key results to deliver against.
  • Actively participate in planning from sprint to quarterly plans.
  • Performs code and architecture reviews of their product areas.
  • Solve highly complex issues while understanding the consequences and risks of changes.
  • Drives trade-off decisions when designing solutions.
  • Help to set project/sprint scope and requirements.
  • Ensure teams stay focused on quality and regular releases.
  • Lead team members in their growth and development plans.
  • Set strategic and tactical team goals based on larger organizational strategic goals.
