Senior Engineering Manager, Continuous Build & Integration
About The Position
General Motors is transforming how we design and build software across the company. As a Senior Engineering Manager in the Continuous Build & Integration organization within Software & Services Engineering, you will lead teams that develop the platforms and pipelines that power developer productivity and integrate and deliver inâvehicle software (e.g., ECUs, domain controllers, infotainment, ADAS). Our work advances GM's vision of a world with zero crashes, zero emissions, and zero congestion by enabling safer, faster, and more reliable software delivery across the product portfolio
Requirements
- 10+ years in software engineering, platform engineering, or site reliability engineering, including 5+ years leading engineering teams (managing managers and/or multiâteam charters).
- Strong technical depth in modern build and delivery disciplines (e.g., hermetic/reproducible builds, artifact provenance, policy enforcement, supply chain security).
- Proven track record of improving engineering outcomes at scale (e.g., reducing failure rates and MTTR, increasing release frequency and predictability, raising developer satisfaction).
- Experience operating in multiâcloud or hybrid environments with a focus on reliability, observability, and cost efficiency.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organizational leadership skills.
- Ability to develop and socialize longârange roadmaps and investment cases tied to developer productivity and business goals.
Responsibilities
- Lead an engineering organization responsible for core developer workflows, CI/CD, and integration of inâvehicle software components, with clear SLOs/SLIs and incident response practices.
- Elevate developer experience by reducing build times, increasing repeatability, improving observability, and streamlining onboarding and tooling ergonomics.
- Define and execute the technical roadmap for integrating inâvehicle software, aligning with component owners and partner teams.
- Mentor managers and senior ICs; establish clear goals, measurable outcomes, and growth paths while fostering a culture of ownership, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
- Communicate strategy, investment tradeoffs, and outcomes to technical and executive stakeholders; ensure clarity of vision, measurable results (e.g., lead time, change failure rate, MTTR), and dependable execution.
