A Day in the Life The Senior Engineering Director, Engineering Solutions, leads a multidisciplinary organization at the forefront of digital transformation, innovation, and operational excellence within CRM R&D and across the enterprise. This leader is responsible for enabling disruptive innovation, driving quality and speed, and building world-class in-house capabilities to meet the evolving needs of patients and markets. Provide strategic direction and operational leadership for Engineering Solutions, encompassing virtual, numerical, and physical engineering domains. Oversee the development and deployment of industry-leading design environment platforms, supporting innovation, quality, and speed for CRM R&D and other operating units. Champion digital engineering initiatives, including model-based systems engineering, digital twins, high-performance computing (HPC), AI/ML, and advanced simulation. Lead a diverse team (81 FTEs, 12 contractors) across embedded systems, design automation, numerical modeling, advanced prototyping. Manage a significant technology portfolio, including major contracts for electrical/mechanical design automation, computer-assisted engineering, requirements management, and HPC infrastructure. Drive cost efficiency and value creation, targeting substantial cost avoidance through digital transformation and process automation. Foster a culture of engagement, inclusion, and innovation, as evidenced by high organizational health scores. Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to ensure alignment of engineering solutions with business strategy and enterprise needs. Ensure compliance, confidentiality, and operational excellence in all aspects of engineering solutions delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field (or international equivalent).
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years engineering experience (10+ years managerial), or 13+ years with advanced degree.
  • Mastery in digital engineering or broad expertise across multiple engineering disciplines.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong preference for previous Medtronic engineering experience with a focus on the CRM business.
  • Demonstrated success leading large, multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Proven ability to manage complex portfolios and enterprise‑scale platforms.
  • Strong business acumen with experience in budget, vendor, and contract management.
