As a Senior Engineer at Later, you’ll play a critical role in building the technology that powers the creator economy. You’ll design, deliver, and optimize large-scale features that impact millions of users—ranging from entrepreneurs to global brands—while mentoring junior engineers and shaping the way we build software at scale. Requirements

  • 7–10 years of progressive software engineering experience with a proven record of leading large-scale projects.
  • Strong expertise in modern software development practices and architectures, with familiarity across frontend and backend stacks.
  • Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum or Kanban).
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical topics for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A history of mentoring and developing junior engineers.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to deliver work within scope, budget, and timelines.
  • Adaptability, resourcefulness, and a track record of driving innovation in fast-paced, high-growth environments.

Responsibilities

  • Scope, plan, and lead large projects, ensuring delivery of high-impact features aligned with company goals.
  • Translate ambiguous requirements into clear, actionable technical plans, balancing competing priorities across stakeholders.
  • Apply strategic thinking to technical decisions, ensuring scalable and sustainable codebases.
  • Deliver significant features and roadmap items, consistently raising the quality bar of Later’s engineering practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex, unknown technical issues—serving as the go-to problem solver for high-priority incidents.
  • Drive continuous improvement in architecture, testing, deployment, and code review practices.
  • Leverage expertise in both frontend and backend technologies to build reliable, performant systems.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and business stakeholders, ensuring alignment and clarity in execution.
  • Clearly communicate technical and non-technical ideas across the organization, fostering trust and strong partnerships.
  • Share insights and feedback that strengthen team performance and help stakeholders make informed decisions.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, supporting their growth with hands-on guidance and feedback.
  • Model Later’s high-performance standards by championing excellence, accountability, and inclusion.
  • Stay current with industry best practices, new technologies, and emerging patterns to bring innovative ideas into the team.
  • Proactively experiment with tools and approaches to drive efficiency and better outcomes.
