About The Position

Jamison Door Company is looking for a Senior Engineer to join our team in Hagerstown, MD. This is a full-time, on-site role. This position reports to the VP of Engineering. Lead and oversee engineering projects related to manufacturing, production, and product development. Make engineering decisions based on proper material choice, manufacturing techniques, cost and sound engineering principles. Conduct feasibility studies and prototype testing for all new products or design changes. Focus on improving all products from a manufacturing standpoint to increase factory efficiency and material cost savings. Resolves manufacturing problems in coordination with the factory as needed and develops a relationship with factory personnel to promote information exchange. Work closely with the quality team to address defects and any other manufacturing issues and implement proper corrective actions. Lead and mentor other engineers and designers to enhance their skills as well as develop management techniques. Explore new and innovative ways to improve processes, documentation, and designs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (BS) from four-year college or university.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in the manufacturing space.
  • Ability to work closely with the team as well as independently.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Expert in Pro/Engineer and/or Autodesk Inventor.
  • Technically competent, quick study, self-starting, and must have excellent people skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to work in an ever-changing work environment.
  • Experience with project planning and scheduling.
  • Microsoft Project or similar.
  • Experience with computer programming including iLogic and parametric model design.
  • Mechanically experienced and willing to be involved in more than just the desk aspects of the job.
  • Previous team lead/management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare Engineering Drawings Use Creo and Inventor to create special doors by modifying existing designs.
  • Product Design and Improvement Work with other engineering team members to design new products and improve processes
  • Custom Job Specific Design Work Create job specific BOMs, drawings, and installation drawings if necessary for special design projects based on customer needs.
  • Process and Equipment Improvements Recommend process and design updates based on factory feedback, customer feedback, or other engineering recommendations.
  • Provide Engineering Assistance Respond to shop in a timely manner with accurate information. Assist the shop with questions regarding new or current processes or products.
  • Meet specific deadlines Be on time with any assigned deadlines and get work done in an efficient and effective manner. Follow any project schedules if applicable.
