About The Position

The Senior Engineer, Control Systems Reliability reports to the Engineering Superintendent, Reliability and is the technical steward for Instrument and Control Systems and is accountable for supporting maintenance and improving these systems including all associated documentation. The Senior Engineer, Control Systems Reliability will participate and provide discipline expertise to less experienced support staff in engineering design, maintenance, and production activities.

Requirements

  • Applies general knowledge of LNG production, transportation, storage and loading, including health, safety, maintenance, operations, governmental regulations and associated codes and standards. Practices and demonstrates in-depth knowledge of Instrument and Control Systems, national codes, standards and regulations, and their implementation in operating facilities.
  • Strong leadership and technical abilities are required.
  • An acute sensitivity to safety issues in a hazardous environment.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization and with individuals and groups from different disciplines, industries, and governmental agencies.
  • Able to work with a culturally diverse group of technical individuals whose skills cover the range required to engineer, operate, and maintain the LNG terminal and Liquefaction production facilities.
  • Possess the personality and ability to relate to and to establish a mutually respectful relationship with 1) management, 2) peers and 3) the various facility level workers (Plant Manager, plant supervision and plant workers) whom are all responsible for ensuring good operations.
  • Organized, planning skills, able to manage multiple activities and programs in timely fashion and with a high degree of accuracy, able to meet work deadlines.
  • Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Accomplished public speaker, able to create and deliver industry-specific presentations.
  • Computer savvy including Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access, Project and PowerPoint.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or other relevant technical discipline is required, Instrument and Control focus is preferred.
  • At least Five (5+) years’ experience in an industrial setting in engineering or operations.
  • Must maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing status.

Nice To Haves

  • Recent experience with LNG is preferred, however, petrochemical, NGL, cryogenic natural gas processing, or other hydrocarbon processing experience may be acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the control systems administrator and provide daily process control support to the plant to keep the plant systems operational. Responsible for the industrial process control systems from the field devices (valves, transmitters, sensing elements, analyzers, flowmeters, etc.) through the controller (which includes DCS, PLC, SIS, BMS, vibration monitoring systems, air compressor controllers, etc.)
  • Uses sound engineering practices, plant standards and specifications, ensuring that documentation for the control is maintained properly. Lead the development of documentation standards including updates to the unit operating manuals. Participate in the Management of Change process. Develop and use computer assisted engineering and design software to perform engineering tasks and develop documentation.
  • Provides technical support, troubleshooting, and assistance in planning and coordinating work for the Maintenance department.
  • Works with maintenance and operations on reliability issues when they occur; have vision and ability to create quality solutions for any problems.
  • Serves as a plant expert on process control system engineering issues (not limited to risk engineering, systems integrity and applicability to specifications, philosophies and standards) and mentor the support groups (I/E Supervision and Technicians). Understand and interpret codes, standards and regulations that are control system related.
  • Develops proposals for plant improvements including design basis and preliminary estimates and budgets for capital projects. During development and construction, support the Program Manager as assigned to minimize overruns in project-related spending.
  • Develops working relationships with other department personnel within the plant to seek out opportunities that will add value to each job completed.
  • Reinforces awareness of safety and environmental incidents through frequent job observations by talking to personnel working in the plant. Responsible for developing or collecting information in support of permit requirements as assigned.
