About The Position

RFA Engineering ( www.rfamec.com ) is an engineering service provider dedicated to delivering our clients with timely engineering support and expertise. We are seeking an experienced candidate to become an integral part of our engineering team. The selected candidate will work with an experienced engineering staff using state-of-the-art engineering tools & processes. This position will operate onsite at our customer's world-class engineering and manufacturing facility. Senior Control Systems Engineer This role focuses on the architecture, integration, and performance of electrical power, motor drive, and control systems that enable reliable operation in demanding environments. The ideal candidate brings deep experience with motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), control algorithms, and power delivery systems, along with a strong background in system-level integration, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and product reliability. This individual will serve as a senior technical resource and mentor while working across cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical control systems design and integration.
  • Strong experience with motors, VFDs, and power distribution systems.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing control systems and algorithms.
  • Experience designing, hardening, and testing products for EMC compliance.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and control system issues at the system level.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with industrial thermal management, HVAC, or fluid cooling systems.
  • Background in system-level design for equipment operating in electrically or environmentally harsh conditions.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers or serving in a technical lead capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the selection, specification, and integration of electrical power components, motors, drives, and control systems for thermal management equipment.
  • Develop and refine control system architectures and algorithms to optimize system performance, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Define and support verification and validation testing to ensure electrical and control systems meet functional, performance, and reliability requirements.
  • Integrate electrical components and design practices to ensure compliance with EMC requirements and industry standards.
  • Investigate root causes of electrical and control system failures and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support resolution of current product issues, providing technical leadership in troubleshooting and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Provide technical mentoring and guidance to engineers and project team members.
  • Collaborate with project engineering, program management, manufacturing, and marketing to deliver customer-focused solutions.
