About The Position

Radiant is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, and test embedded software for instrumentation and control (I&C) systems. You will develop mission-critical, highly performant embedded systems to interface with sensors and actuators at the heart of a first-of-its-kind energy platform. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in early design stages and owning designs through production. You will have the opportunity to build mission-critical software control systems for the first commercialized portable nuclear microreactor — technology that will redefine how the world accesses clean, reliable power.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of industry experience in embedded software, including 1+ year of design and architecture ownership.
  • Hands-on experience with an RTOS (Zephyr, NuttX, ThreadX, etc.).
  • Proficiency in C and C++.
  • Self-directed and proactive — able to operate with autonomy in a fast-moving environment.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to align cross-functional peers and management.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Zephyr RTOS.
  • Experience working with Simulink Autocode C++ export.
  • Experience with CMake.
  • Comfortable reading and interpreting hardware schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build reliable, fault-tolerant embedded software for production hardware operating in demanding environments.
  • Develop and bring up new drivers for I&C hardware across a range of sensing and actuation subsystems.
  • Lead design reviews, solicit feedback, and drive iterative improvements across the team.
  • Own the full engineering lifecycle — from architectural design through test, build, and field implementation.
  • Create robust testing plans, validation frameworks, and thorough documentation that meet rigorous safety standards.
