Raytheon’s Air & Space Defense Systems (ASDS) strategic business unit (SBU) specializes in multi-domain integrated air and missile defense, advanced sensors, space-based systems, hypersonics, effectors and cyber solutions. We are looking to hire a Senior Embedded Software Development Engineer to be part of the sub-SBU that focuses on Surveillance & Reconnaissance deliverable.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 years of relevant software engineering experience.
  • Experience with real-time software development using C or C++.
  • Experience with a real-time operating system such as VxWorks.
  • Experience with Linux scripting languages such as Bash.
  • An active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in Cameo and some AI experience preferably within defense-related programs.
  • Basic understanding of Spacewire and RMAP (Remote Memory Access Protocol)
  • Basic understanding of Data Processing mode control
  • Experience developing software in a SAFe Agile environment.
  • Experience with the software development lifecycle for government customers.
  • Experience working in a lab environment with physical hardware.
  • Experience with development tools such as Git, Jira, and Bitbucket.

Responsibilities

  • Be part of a small, highly-focused team working to develop and maintain real-time, embedded software for sensor systems.
  • The team members are multi-disciplined and contribute across all phases of systems engineering, software development, integration and test, and metrics.
  • The team works closely with operations personnel to meet unique and continuously evolving development needs.
  • Design, develop, integrate, and test real-time, embedded sensor software.
  • Review and produce software design and development documents.
  • Work with talented teams of engineers, architects, and leaders in an Agile environment.
  • Develop advanced real-time software in an Agile environment.
  • Implement modern DevSecOps and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery techniques.
  • Use Software lifecycle practices on defense projects.
  • Work onsite in El Segundo, CA
