About The Position

The Senior Electrical Engineer plays a pivotal role in delivering high-performance electrical systems and solutions across plant operations. This position requires deep technical expertise in electrical engineering, with responsibility for leading projects ranging from $50K to $1M, including new machine installations, upgrades, and system integrations. The engineer ensures all projects are executed on time, within budget, and in full compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements. By driving continuous improvement, providing technical leadership, and managing both internal and external resources, the Senior Electrical Engineer contributes directly to operational efficiency, equipment reliability, and long-term plant success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial automation with proven expertise in Allen Bradley PLCs, Rockwell software, remote I/O, HMIs, and associated control systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and program PLCs in complex industrial environments.
  • Experience with industrial Ethernet communication protocols and machine network architecture.
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety principles, including hardware design, component selection, and arc flash mitigation per NFPA 70E.
  • Proficiency in engineering drawing development using Autodesk products.
  • Experience in specification and procurement of electrical hardware and services.
  • Proven track record in managing capital and expense budgets to support plant objectives.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting with familiarity with production and maintenance processes.
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic and ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert-level electrical engineering support across multiple plant systems and processes.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and corrective action projects to enhance system performance and reliability.
  • Manage full lifecycle project delivery, including scope definition, design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and handover.
  • Develop and finalize electrical designs, including Bill of Materials, spare parts planning, and risk assessments.
  • Create and maintain engineering drawings using Autodesk products.
  • Oversee hardware design, PLC and HMI programming, VFD and servo integration, control system networking, and system-level integration.
  • Coordinate with automation vendors and manage external contractors during installation and commissioning phases.
  • Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), I/O checkout, machine start-up, and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, including NFPA 70E arc flash requirements and all applicable legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Analyze project requirements, identify engineering challenges, and implement effective, cost-efficient solutions.
  • Monitor project workflows and resource allocation to ensure timely delivery and adherence to quality and budget targets.
