Southern Water is seeking an experienced Senior Electronic Security Systems Engineer to help protect critical infrastructure and lead the development, integration and assurance of our electronic security systems (ESS). Requirements

  • 5+ years in a similar security engineering role (water industry experience beneficial).
  • Strong technical expertise in ESS design, specification and implementation.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and NPSA guidance.
  • Experience in compliance auditing and integrated system development.
  • Effective stakeholder management and experience working with police or security agencies.
  • Full UK driving licence and own vehicle.
  • Membership of a recognised security body and commitment to CPD.
  • Ability to work independently and manage complex workloads.
  • Strong communication and project support skills.
  • Operational awareness and willingness to travel across the region.
  • Eligible for SC security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert ESS guidance and support the Protective Security Strategy.
  • Support Regional Security Advisors assuring any security upgrades/project are compliant with the relevant Southern Water security policies and standards
  • Work with IT/OT teams, 3rd-party integrators and Tier 1 contractors to deliver compliant security upgrades and projects.
  • Support the maintenance and performance of core systems including CCTV, IDS, Access Control and PSIM.
  • Drive improvements through AI, automation and digital integration.
  • Collaborate with the Alarm Monitoring Centre to enhance system performance.
  • Maintain strong relationships with system providers and stay informed on future technology roadmaps.
  • Promote security awareness across the business and support on-call duties.
