CMD is seeking a skilled Senior Electrical Estimator to join our team. This individual will own the estimating process by preparing takeoffs, pricing, and bid proposals from start to finish. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of experience, ability to build relationships with general contractors and vendors, and a proven track record of closing complex deals.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in electrical estimating for commercial, institutional, and government projects. With a focus on tenant improvements and renovations in occupied facilities, etc.
  • Knowledge of NEC, local codes, and standard estimating practices.
  • Strong ability to build relationships with general contractors and vendors.
  • Proven track record of independently managing and closing bids ranging from $200k to multi-million-dollar projects. Most projects will be in the $250k - $1mm range.
  • Ability to lead bid submissions and close bids.
  • Comfortable working under tight deadlines and managing multiple bids.
  • Expertise in estimating software such as Accubid, ConEst, or McCormick.
  • Proficient in Bluebeam, Excel, and construction management platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized, analytical, and detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret plans, specifications, and RFP documents.
  • Perform material and labor take-offs using tools like Accubid and Bluebeam.
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes, maintaining strong relationships with key suppliers.
  • Prepare detailed, accurate electrical estimates for commercial, institutional, and government projects.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and leadership to support bid strategy.
  • Lead post-bid negotiations and hand-off to project management.
  • Assist with value engineering and cost-saving analysis.
  • Own the estimating process, including bid review meetings, proposal generation, and bid submission.
  • Maintain historical cost data and update unit pricing regularly.
  • Assist with change pricing/alternates as requested.
