Senior Electrical Engineer

Elbit AmericaFort Worth, TX

About The Position

This Senior Electrical Engineer role is a hands-on engineering position focused on the design, development, and integration of electrical systems with an emphasis on cable assemblies, interconnects, and system-level hardware integration. The role requires strong practical engineering experience working with real hardware in lab and test environments. The engineer will be responsible for ensuring electrical subsystems function together reliably in ruggedized defense applications, including support of EMI/EMC compliance and environmental requirements. This is not a purely theoretical or systems-focused role, but one centered on making electrical designs work in real-world conditions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • 5+ years of hands-on electrical engineering experience in hardware development and integration
  • Strong experience with cable/harness design and electrical interconnect systems
  • Experience supporting EMI/EMC compliance in real systems (MIL-STD-461 or similar)
  • Familiarity with environmental qualification standards (MIL-STD-810 or similar)
  • Experience working in lab environments using standard test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, multimeters)
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical issues in physical hardware systems
  • Experience with electrical design and documentation tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, Visio, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, electrical systems integration, and practical problem solving

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to PCB design or board-level integration is a plus
  • Experience in defense or ruggedized systems environments preferred

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop cable assemblies, wiring harnesses, and electrical interconnect systems for complex hardware platforms
  • Define connector selection, shielding, grounding, and EMI mitigation strategies
  • Integrate electrical subsystems and ensure proper functionality at the system level
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues in lab, test, and integration environments
  • Support EMI/EMC compliance and environmental qualification efforts (MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, and related standards)
  • Perform signal integrity and power analysis to validate system performance
  • Utilize electrical design tools (schematic capture, documentation tools) to support development and integration
  • Evaluate and select components, materials, and design approaches based on performance and environmental requirements
  • Support design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for test (DFT) considerations
  • Conduct testing and analysis of electrical systems and translate results into design improvements
  • Collaborate with mechanical, systems, manufacturing, and test engineering teams to ensure successful product integration
  • Support manufacturing and field issues, including troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Provide technical support to internal teams and external customers as required
  • Participate in project planning activities and support execution to meet schedule, cost, and performance objectives
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts across engineering processes and product design
