About The Position

Join Collins Aerospace as an Electrical Engineer and perform duties at a work center with an emphasis on communications products. The primary work product is the complete digital design of a PCB from inception through layout and assembly. This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered. This role is categorized as hybrid, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote following the schedule assigned by the Manager. Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing from Specifications
  • Proficient in Schematic capture
  • Experience with design verification, troubleshooting, and analyzing test results
  • Experience with Data/Library Management & Configuration Management tools
  • Knowledgeable of IPC Standards for PCB Design and Fabrication
  • Good working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies, including planning, tracking, and managing hardware development tasks in JIRA is a plus.
  • Project management experience using Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
  • Experience with generating Printed Wiring Board (PWB) layout constraint guidelines and overseeing the routing, layout, fabrication, and assembly of the design.
  • Hands-on experience testing circuit card assemblies and performing design verification activities
  • Experience with Siemen's Xpedition Design Tools is preferred or Siemens/Mentor Graphics Xpedition, Altium, Cadence Allegro, EAGLE, KiCAD, etc.) for creation of circuit card designs.
  • Knowledgeable of IEEE, MIL standards
  • Experience with electrical designs that contain digital electronics such as processors, FPGAs, high-speed transceivers, DDR, and flash memories.

Responsibilities

  • Follow hardware design requirements, observe design checklists, adhere to accepted processes and prepare design documentation.
  • Coordinate with layout engineers, systems engineers, mechanical engineers, test engineers, FPGA & Software engineers to ensure successful completion of projects in support of aggressive schedules.
  • Manage existing part creation processes, understand symbol, footprint, and part creation
  • Part selection and create Bill of Materials/Parts List (BOM/PL)
  • Perform timing, power, and signal integrity analysis; Power signal routing and planes definition, stack-up design, blind buried, micro vias, DRC checks
  • Generate or approve complete drawing sets to document PWB and CCA level designs
