The Senior Electrical Designer assists in coordination of engineering projects and helps oversee the phases of design. This position also helps ensure the successful execution of projects. This role involves performing engineering calculations, interpreting drawings and specifications, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-Accredited Program
  • Strong Proficiency in required design software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, or Revit.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Good communication and technical writing skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically.
  • Ability to maintain required certifications
  • Pre-employment drug screening and background check are conditions of employment.
  • Motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates detailed phases of MEP electrical engineering design for major building and infrastructure projects, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and low-voltage systems.
  • Assists with electrical engineering calculations such as load analysis, short-circuit, voltage drop, and arc flash studies; interprets electrical drawings, specifications, and applicable codes (NEC, NFPA, IECC).
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships through active participation in electrical and MEP industry organizations and community engagement.
  • Coordinates electrical design with other MEP disciplines (mechanical, plumbing, fire protection) as well as architects, structural engineers, and sub-consultants to ensure integrated system performance.
  • Produces and reviews electrical drawings using CADD/Revit, including one-line diagrams, panel schedules, lighting layouts, and power plans.
  • Reads and interprets technical documents, including electrical specifications, equipment cut sheets, and coordination drawings.
  • Participates in regular project meetings to review progress, resolve coordination issues, and support project delivery.
  • Ensures all electrical designs comply with quality standards, including ISO procedures, while maintaining adherence to project budgets and schedules.
  • Delivers projects on time and within budget while meeting all electrical design criteria and client expectations.
  • Meets or exceeds individual utilization and performance targets.
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned in support of MEP electrical engineering services.
