Learn more at https://www.jnj.com/medtech The Senior EHS Specialist is responsible for providing support for EHS activities at a diverse, high tech end to end manufacturing facility with research development and distribution operations. They will be the technical authority for EHS programs that supports execution of the J&J EHS Policy and drives continuous improvement. They will support all aspects of EHS programs at the Johnson & Johnson Vision Care site. Recognizing EHS hazards and risks, this role identifies, analyzes, and communicates EHS compliance requirements including securing of EHS related permits when needed. They will assess compliance, identify and investigate non-compliances, and track actions to address to closure. This role is responsible for conducting compliance assessments focused on electrical and machine safety, identifying root causes, recommending solutions to identified hazards, and implementing solutions. They will review new regulations from outside agencies and new Johnson & Johnson Worldwide EHS policies and procedures against current site programs and practices for gaps.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s or equivalent university degree required; or equivalent work experience preferred in Occupational Safety, Machine Safety, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety
  • Electrical and/or Machine Safety experience
  • Knowledge of EHS management systems (e.g., ISO 12100, 45001, and/or NFPA 70E)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated project management skills, with the ability to lead projects
  • Excellent planning, influencing, negotiating, organizational, and time management skills
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Requires ability to work standard hours (8:00am - 5:00pm), and flexibility to work off-shift hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed by business and for site related activities
  • Requires ability to meet the physical demands (including sitting/standing/walking for extended periods, performing repetitive tasks such as lifting/carrying/bending/reaching/pulling/pushing, working on/around ladders/elevated surfaces/platforms, high energy sources, controlled chemical substances, controlled infectiousagents, and high noise areas)
  • Requires up to 10% travel both domestic and/or international

Responsibilities

  • Support Company Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) program.
  • Maintain Subject Matter Authority level knowledge and regulatory compliance in Electrical and Machine safety.
  • Assist with Pre-job assessments as needed for Projects.
  • Conduct safety trainings, including new hire safety orientations.
  • Conduct audits and reviews of electrical equipment, installations, and facilities to verify compliance with NFPA 70E, OSHA, and NEC.
  • Perform hazardous energy control and safe work practices reviews as requested.
  • Lead or assist with conducting general safety audits and near miss, incident, and accident investigations as needed.
