The Senior EHS Specialist(Construction) position is an exciting opportunity to join PM Group’s quickly growing Boston area Outsourced Technical Services(OTS) team for a client in the Greater Boston area. Outsourced Technical Services (OTS) is an integral part of PM Group’s ability to support clients across the complete project life cycle. The Senior EHS Specialist(Construction) will support capital, facility, and equipment installation projects within an active pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This role ensures that construction activities are executed safely, align with client EHS procedures, and meet all GMP, OSHA, and PM Group safety expectations. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and experienced in monitoring contractors, identifying hazards, and driving a strong safety culture on site. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 7-10 years of experience in construction safety, preferably within pharmaceutical, biotech, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Strategic experience developing EHS policies, procedures, and work instructions, specifically within a construction space
  • Experience providing training, doing assessments, conducting site inspections, managing permits and record keeping
  • Strong understanding of OSHA 29 CFR 1910/1926, GMP, and pharmaceutical EHS standards.
  • Experience with LOTO, permit-to-work systems, hot work, confined space, and high-risk construction activities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to influence without authority.
  • Comfortable working in active construction and GMP environments.

Nice To Haves

  • CSP, CHST, OSHA 30, or similar certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily safety oversight and field walks for all active construction, shutdown, and installation work.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with site safety requirements, JSAs, permits, LOTO, hot work, confined space, and GMP protocols.
  • Support pre-task safety planning (including toolbox meetings, risk assessments, and method statements).
  • Review and approve contractor EHS documentation (SOPs, Safe Work Plans, RAMS, etc.).
  • Review safe work permits
  • Ensure proper PPE standards are enforced and maintained.
  • Interface with client site teams (Facilities, Engineering, Operations, Quality, EHS) to align construction activities with plant operations.
  • Conduct construction site inspections
  • Work with facilities managers overseeing the facility and construction safety program
  • Assist the facilities operations team with the development of facility and construction safety programs
  • Support shutdown, tie-in, and high-risk activity planning to ensure adequate risk mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate with project managers and general contractors to track safety performance, corrective actions, and schedule impacts.
  • Assist in controlling access to construction zones and maintaining site safety signage and barricading.
  • Conduct incident/near-miss investigations, root cause analysis, and follow-up corrective actions.
  • Maintain daily logs, safety metrics, and weekly reporting for PM Group and the client.
  • Participate in internal and external audits to ensure compliance with OSHA standards, client EHS policies, and PM Group Safety Code.
  • Perform job hazard assessments
  • Support creation and maintenance of site-specific safety procedures, including emergency response protocols.
  • Provide training to internal employees and contractors
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement through coaching, interventions, and reinforcement of safe behavior.
  • Participate in client and PM Group safety meetings, workshops, and improvement programs.
