About The Position

Agileana, founder of the Drupal Center of Excellence, is a digital services consultancy specializing in enterprise Drupal solutions, large-scale migrations, and platform modernization for complex organizations. We partner with federal agencies to deliver secure, accessible, and maintainable Drupal platforms that meet rigorous government standards. Agileana is currently supporting the United States Courts on a significant initiative to migrate 250+ public-facing Drupal 7 websites and an internal intranet to Drupal 10/11. We are seeking Senior Drupal Developers with deep technical expertise and federal experience to help deliver this mission-critical migration. The Senior Drupal Developer will play a key role in designing, building, migrating, and optimizing Drupal 10/11 websites for federal government clients. This role requires advanced Drupal engineering skills, experience with large-scale migrations, and a strong understanding of modern Drupal development practices, cloud infrastructure, and compliance-driven environments. Developers will work closely with technical leads, project managers, designers, QA, and content stakeholders to ensure high-quality, performant, and user-friendly Drupal solutions.

Requirements

  • Must be based in the U.S., eligible to work in the U.S., and able to pass a government background check.
  • Strong professional experience as a Drupal Developer on enterprise-scale projects.
  • Proven experience with Drupal migrations, particularly from Drupal 7 to modern Drupal versions.
  • Hands-on experience working with federal government websites or similarly regulated environments.
  • Deep familiarity with: Drupal behaviors, libraries.yml and asset management, Configuration management, Modern JavaScript integration, Component-based theming and design systems
  • Experience with AWS-hosted environments and modern deployment workflows.

  • Active participation in the Drupal community and Drupal Association.
  • Strong understanding of: CI/CD pipelines, Automated testing strategies, Web servers (e.g., Nginx, Apache), Caching layers and performance tuning
  • Commitment to code quality, documentation, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience collaborating in cross-functional teams with designers, QA, and content strategists.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Drupal 10/11 websites using modern Drupal best practices.
  • Execute and support Drupal 7 to Drupal 10/11 migrations, including content, configuration, and custom functionality.
  • Implement and maintain migration strategies using core and contributed migration tools.
  • Develop custom modules, themes, and integrations as required.
  • Implement Single Directory Components (SDCs), component-based theming, and design systems.
  • Use Drupal recipes, configuration management, and reusable patterns to standardize site builds.
  • Leverage libraries.yml, asset management, and Drupal behaviors appropriately.
  • Integrate modern JavaScript frameworks where appropriate while adhering to Drupal standards.
  • Ensure clean, maintainable, and scalable Drupal architecture.
  • Optimize Drupal performance through effective caching strategies (page cache, dynamic page cache, render cache, CDN integration).
  • Work with web servers and cloud infrastructure, including AWS-based environments.
  • Support and improve CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, and deployments.
  • Follow security best practices aligned with federal standards and organizational policies.
  • Write and maintain automated tests (unit, kernel, functional, and end-to-end as appropriate).
  • Participate in code reviews and enforce high standards for code quality and documentation.
  • Collaborate with QA teams to support accessibility, regression, and acceptance testing.
  • Ensure solutions are reliable, supportable, and maintainable over time.
  • Design and build intuitive, streamlined content authoring experiences for content managers.
  • Implement editorial workflows, permissions, and reusable components that empower non-technical users.
  • Balance flexibility with governance to meet federal content and usability standards.
  • Work effectively within Agile/Scrum or SAFe delivery teams.
  • Participate in sprint planning, daily standups, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, designers, and stakeholders to deliver against project goals.
