About The Position

Job Objectives: Embrace, promote and achieve the Vision and Mission of the company. Direct and lead operational associates and drivers; optimize use of service equipment to meet and exceed customer requirements within company policy, regulatory, safety, and business economic guidelines. Meet or exceed your assigned goals. Essential Job Functions: Promote safety first in all actions. Provide efficient friendly customer contact; seamless customer experience. Determine and prioritize freight scheduling; work with Fleet Managers and customers on scheduling loads, using technology and resources to determine capacity, driver schedules, etc. Fleet Managers CANNOT turn down freight. Build, plan, and assign loads to drivers in a fair and equitable manner. Assist, as directed, in the hiring and OnBoarding of drivers and non-driving personnel. Provide supervision, training, development, mentoring, and appropriate disciplinary action of drivers, Fleet Managers and Customer Service Representatives. Review and make changes as needed to maintain the most efficient staffing of company units to achieve the highest utilization as possible. Ensure proper completion and processing of load paperwork; ensure process is efficient, effective and meets customer requirements. Communicate with all operations associates and drivers regarding company and customer requirements. Communicate with internal and external customers as required. Communicate with CSC Manager, Operations Manager (when and where applicable), Regional Manager, Regional Safety Director, Customer Service Reps and Technicians as required. Continually update and share knowledge of federal and state regulations. Be available and assist with extended coverage, holiday coverage, and special circumstances as they arise. Participate in, and contribute to regular CSC profit & loss (P&L), financial, dashboard, and key metric reviews. Travel and assist with remote operations when applicable and as directed. Assist Center and Operations Managers (where applicable) in managing Fleet Manager overtime and Fleet Manager scheduling, staffing. Additional Responsibilities: Carry out duties assigned by CSC Manager, Operations Manager (where applicable) or Regional Manager as required. Responsible for overall CSC operations during the absence of the CSC Manager and or Operations Manager (where applicable).

Requirements

  • High School Education or equivalent
  • One year experience as a fleet manager in transportation industry.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, federal and state standards
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
  • Self-starter with detail oriented work habits
  • Able to maintain confidentiality
  • Display professional demeanor
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Good interpersonal skills; able to work well with wide range of individuals
  • Demonstrate dependability through good attendance and adherence to timelines and schedules
  • Basic computer skills
  • Knowledge of basic company employment policies and procedures
  • Sitting for long periods of time, walking, finger dexterity, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual activity
  • Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds)
