About The Position

The Senior Director, US Obesity – Pre-Launch (Team Lead) is accountable for leading the US pre-launch strategy and execution across obesity assets, ensuring a coherent, enterprise-aligned approach from late-stage development through launch. This role manages a team of marketing leaders to shape US portfolio strategy, customer segmentation, positioning and messaging, and integrated go-to-market plans. The Team Lead partners tightly with Global/US leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to drive governance decisions, steward significant marketing investment, and ensure executional readiness across channels and stakeholders. As assets advance, the Senior Director translates clinical data, competitive dynamics, access/policy shifts, and real-world insights into US portfolio-level choices and asset-specific strategies, balancing near-term launch imperatives with long-term brand building. The role requires high autonomy, strong strategic judgment, and exceptional cross-functional leadership to deliver differentiated, insight-driven launches at scale.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • 12+ years in pharmaceutical marketing/commercial roles with significant pre-launch leadership.
  • Demonstrated people leadership, including manager-of-managers experience.
  • Track record shaping portfolio-level strategy, governance decisions, and major investments.
  • Deep understanding of US clinical development, access/policy, and commercialization.
  • Strategic thinker, decisive under ambiguity, developer of talent, strong communicator.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a high-performing US pre-launch marketing team
  • Establish operating rhythms, performance goals, and ways of working that promote accountability, inclusion, and cross-functional excellence.
  • Own the US pre-launch strategic agenda
  • Serve as primary US commercial voice in governance, framing options, risks, and trade-offs.
  • Partner with Finance to define investment strategies and budget guardrails; optimize spend.
  • Lead development of US portfolio and asset positioning, including message architectures.
  • Oversee customer segmentation and targeting across key stakeholders.
  • Direct launch readiness across Marketing, Sales, Medical, Access, and Operations.
  • Institutionalize a decision-driven insights engine integrating CI, research, and KOL input.
  • Deliver executive-ready insights and adjust strategies based on market evolution.
  • Act as senior integrator across key functions to ensure unified planning.
  • Oversee strategic agency and partner ecosystem.
  • Define and track KPIs; adjust investments based on data.
  • Ensure adherence to compliance and ethical standards across all activities.
