About The Position

The Senior Director, Tippie Undergraduate Career Services, is responsible for overseeing career services strategy, programs, processes, and policies for approximately 5,000 undergraduate business students across eight majors within the Tippie College of Business. This position is responsible for leading the career team’s delivery of 1:1 career advising, professional preparation presentations, first-destination outcomes reporting, and employer engagement. The Senior Director leads a highly collaborative team to design, implement, and assess scalable coaching models, experiential learning, career education programming, and professional development tools that promote internship and full-time job success. This role manages the Career Services budget and drives operational excellence to ensure access to resources and a positive student experience. The Senior Director stewards relationships related to talent and hiring, deepens industry connections, expands career pathways, and broadens recruiting pipelines. The role provides strategic insight and partnership, employer-facing events, and college-wide career readiness initiatives. The Senior Director collaborates across academic units, the Undergraduate Program Office, and other campus stakeholders to advance student success and strengthen first-destination outcomes reporting. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in business administration, education, or other related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience (typically three to five years) in recruiting and/or career coaching and placement, including proactively sourcing employer opportunities, regular outreach to new and existing employers, and providing direct referrals into organizations on behalf of students.
  • Knowledge of undergraduate level hiring, timelines, trends, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated constructive and collaborative relationship building skills with a variety of individuals and groups including peers, leadership, and external constituents.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams in high-volume or rapidly evolving service environments.
  • Demonstrated skills in data collection, analysis, management, and program assessment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience developing professional communications such as employer outreach messages, student-facing resources, and presentations.
  • Ability to travel occasionally. Valid driver’s license and ability to meet and maintain UI Fleet Safety Standards.

  • Knowledge of and/or experience with career services systems such as Handshake, Salesforce, CRM, database tools, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Directs the professional development journey for Tippie undergraduate business students through career advising, programming, and development of career curriculum for professional courses including: BUS:2200, BUS:3100, and professional preparation seminars in each major.
  • Ensures strong coaching coverage and consistent advising practices to support exploration, internship success, and full-time job attainment.
  • Stewards relationships with recruiting organizations, alumni, and industry partners to increase internship and full-time opportunities.
  • Communicates employer hiring needs and market trends to academic and administrative partners to inform curricular alignment and skill development.
  • Supervises the undergraduate career services team including performance management, staffing, onboarding, and professional development.
  • Member of senior leadership team for the Undergraduate Program responsible for aspects of day-to-day operations with emphasis on creating a welcoming and collaborative environment.
