About The Position

The Thought Leader Liaison (TLL) is a field-based role responsible for thought leader engagement and peer-to-peer (P2P) education within Lilly’s portfolio of therapies in Immunology, spanning from prelaunch to commercialization, including line extensions. This role involves close partnership with the Immunology Customer Strategy Head Senior Director to develop and lead educational engagement strategies for various healthcare professionals, including Dermatologists, Allergists, Rheumatologists, Advanced Practice Providers, and Key Office Immunology staff, across multiple indications such as pediatric and adult psoriasis, alopecia areata, and atopic dermatitis. The position has both an internal cross-functional component, requiring collaboration with brand teams, medical, compliance, and external vendors, and an external component involving interaction, coaching, development, and support of contracted thought leaders (faculty and advisors) at Immunology Congresses. All interactions must adhere to commercial compliance, regulatory, and legal guidelines. The TLL must possess strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously across various focus areas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 4+ years of industry experience (Immunology strongly preferred, specialty or immunology experience required) with demonstrated leadership and customer-facing results as well as experience working with thought leaders
  • Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills; able to communicate clearly and succinctly with team members and thought leaders
  • High clinical interest in sophisticated biologic discussions
  • Strong problem-solving skills: able to recognize problems before they become serious and take corrective action

Responsibilities

  • Identification, development, and ongoing evaluation of 30-40 Dermatology, Allergy and Rheumatology Thought Leaders (TLs), including HCPs and Key Office Staff, within a specified geographic area
  • Evaluate, coach and support speakers by interacting with each faculty member within your region monthly: virtually and/or live
  • Optimize engagement, mentor and coach thought leaders concurrently
  • Communicate complex information and analyses to a variety of scientific and non-scientific audiences
  • Annual assessment of faculty size, including addition and removal of faculty members, ensuring Lilly has a diverse faculty to best meet the audience’s needs
  • Respond quickly to faculty inquiries by providing relevant information (every so often faculty will contact TLLs before or after standard working hours)
  • Responsible for annual brand and compliance training of all speakers including live training, virtual evening training and one-off training to ensure clinical aptitude and podium prowess of the faculty when delivering P2P educational and promotional content
  • Partner with Faculty Administration and Veeva Digital Engagements to handle speaker compensation capacity, annual speaker contracting and any possible speaker compliance violations
  • Support cross-functional collaboration for thought leader engagement across Brand Teams, Payer, Medical, Global and Senior Leadership
  • Regularly attend key regional and national Immunology Congresses (on average of at least one congress a month/weekend to assess opportunities and evolve the Lilly brand strategy with HCP attendees, contracted faculty, Lilly teammates and Congress staff)
  • Provide support for brand sponsored Product Theater(s) and disease state education at Congresses
  • Create association with state and national alliances within a defined region, including organized medical groups (e.g., Dermatology, Allergy supergroups)
  • Coordinate TL engagements with Lilly Brand and Senior Leadership attendees at Congresses and 1:1 interaction to further our Next Generational Thought Leader Engagement Plan
  • Attend competitor presentations and provide ideas and resources to the brand teams; collect and deliver effective feedback to the Centralized Congress Team to improve future execution
  • Collect insights and provide input into the brand teams to create positive customer experiences that compliantly differentiate Lilly from the competition in the P2P and Congress channels
  • Work with the brand teams to develop the P2P content and key messages elements; provide input from an external perspective as part of the annual Customer Planning and Business Planning processes
  • Virtually attend weekly brand meetings to provide feedback on marketplace developments, TL engagements, P2P implementation, and Congress execution
  • Support TL engagement and create requests for services (RFSs) for any brand-related needs (e.g., videos, national sales meeting presentations, training, creation of resources, etc.)
  • Recommend and monitor key insights for each brand in coordination with Lilly Market Research
  • Help develop complementary and innovative P2P educational strategies and initiatives for compliant promotional education (modalities of P2P, invitations, digital Congress needs, P2P surveys, etc.) by collaborating with cross functional partners including brand teams, medical, advocacy, and payer
  • Develop vision for the sales force with P2P educational initiatives and ensure compliant execution of tactics; provide P2P/Congress updates on district calls when requested
  • Create sales meeting workshop content aligned with the sales vision and goals
  • Create and gain appropriate approval for internal and contracted faculty/advisors communications (FCAP)
  • Provide training to new and ongoing to experienced sales reps on P2P procedures and strategic use of programming
  • Oversee logistics, introductions, and brand discussions by securing Thought Leaders for sales meetings or trainings
  • Complete clinical product and disease state training
  • Complete all required marketing, thought leader engagement and advising Internal Training Plans (ITPs), including Smart Start training for new marketers
  • Become proficient in important marketing internal systems
  • Complete annual Red Book Training
  • Provide data analytics and tracking for districts on programming trends, budget allocation, and speaker utilization when requested
  • Provide communication with the sales force when necessary
  • Maintain relationship with agency/external vendor partner(s) along with day-to-day relationships with internal business partners
  • Responsible for understanding, implementing, and adhering to company policies, processes, and external obligations
