About The Position

The Senior Director of Strategic Marketing is a key member of the global business segment leadership team. They will lead the strategy development and execution for the overall business segment, including global upstream product marketing strategies. The incumbent will drive growth by identifying new or expanding market opportunities for Olympus products and creating proposals and strategies for optimizing those opportunities. They will collaborate with peers across the globe on market research and analysis and will lead initiatives to drive our business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in senior management levels in FDA regulated health care or medical device industries or in health care related consultancy.
  • Experience in the medical devices market.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree/MBA is preferred.
  • Experience in strategy management consulting or similar, highly preferred.
  • Extensive experience in establishing and managing annual and long-term commercial business plans as a key leader with a strong preference in healthcare.
  • Creative thinker and strategic planner with a profound commercial acumen related to the sales and marketing of medical devices.
  • Good negotiating, problem solving and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Adept at delivering appropriate messages to employees at all levels of the organization as well as to the senior management of healthcare facilities from physicians to administration.
  • Skilled at customer relationship building and maintenance.
  • Skilled at managing through influence.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of customer needs, market trends, competitive landscape, technology trends, identification and assessment of significant growth opportunities.
  • Develop key strategies for global markets looking beyond the existing product portfolio.
  • Support the Business Segment Leader to create the vision and mission and layout the overall Global Portfolio Strategy and Strategic 5-year plan to successfully achieve targets.
  • Identify and execute market research activities to drive business portfolio decisions.
  • Analyze market data in order to develop insights, identify trends, and establish a roadmap of actions to capitalize on identified opportunities.
  • Prepare business case including technology assessment, target market assessment, financial modelling and related due diligence.
  • Provide input on new product development, market/business intelligence and related stakeholder functions, providing voice-of-the-customer and expertise to drive decision making.
  • Engage with Olympus R&D, Operations, and Manufacturing to coordinate global product road maps ensuring strategic fit, alignment and prioritization.
  • Work with Medical Affairs and program teams, prioritize and lead market development and evidence generation efforts, including clinical and health economic studies.
  • Work with Business Development, identify potential areas and companies for strategic partnership, distribution, or M&A activity.
  • Work with the Global Marketing team in an effort to develop and effectively execute the strategy and prioritization for life cycle management and sustaining activities.
  • Through extensive external research, lead the development of early stage business cases and project proposals as well as setting the direction for the Global Product Marketing team and R&D Discovery teams to ensure resource allocation is coordinated with business growth opportunities that aligned with the strategy.
  • Work closely with the Global BI/MI team to ensure that the right market data and competitive landscape assessments are available for the segment specifically and that there is a plan to fill gaps for key areas of focus (product segments) in all key regions of existing business and planned expansion.
