About The Position

We believe travel makes us better. Launched in 2016 with one perfectly designed carry-on, we now offer a range of luggage and travel essentials for every journey. Together we create, innovate, and embark on this journey as a community of travelers, helping to make travel more seamless for everyone. We are hiring a Sr. Director, Social Media & Community to lead our Social & Community team. This position reports to the VP, Brand, and takes Away further by being a leader of content, conversation, and culture. In addition to the below responsibilities, this position will also oversee two employees and a team of five.

Requirements

  • You have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including a minimum of 5 years of experience leading and managing multi-disciplinary teams (social, creator, community) in a high-growth, high-volume consumer brand environment
  • Your proven foresight in anticipating market shifts, competitive moves, and platform evolution has resulted in the successful execution of functional roadmaps
  • You’re a visionary, empowering leader—someone who people want to learn from, work with, and are inspired by
  • You’re an expert in fluently tying channel performance to P&L drivers and communicating data narratives to the Leadership Team
  • You’re customer-obsessed—you understand our customers and how to speak to them at every touchpoint
  • You’re an exceptional communicator and storyteller who brings passion, energy, and inspiration to the forefront
  • You’re obsessed with how our brand shows up and have exceptionally high personal and team standards
  • You’re creative and innovative; you love to build great new things that are fresh and unique while staying on brand

Responsibilities

  • Define, champion, and execute a comprehensive global social media strategy, ensuring an integrated, platform-first approach that maximizes growth and aligns with Away’s overall business objectives
  • Be accountable for the development and strategic scaling of the social and community team, including identifying and growing talent
  • Stay informed about global social media trends, emerging platforms, and best practices, ensuring Away remains at the forefront of the industry
  • Champion brand strategy, aesthetic, and standards across all touchpoints, delivering a consistent creative approach that is fully Away but imagined through a social-first lens
  • Implement innovative tactics that leverage industry and consumer insights to build a best-in-class approach, resulting in meaningful and long-lasting relationships with our communities
  • Oversee and lead an editorial calendar that supports the broader brand marketing vision while building in social-first moments that break through
  • Collaborate on the execution of paid and organic social media campaigns, including product launches, creator collaborations, and brand moments in partnership with the broader brand and growth teams
  • Define and execute a holistic creator marketing ecosystem and community growth strategy that cultivates loyalty across social, creator, and digital forums
  • Represent Away as a thought leader in the social and community space, influencing and establishing strategic partnerships that drive competitive advantage and innovation
  • Set goals, track, analyze, and report performance, and identify and implement recommendations for improvement and growth
