About The Position

This role is for a Senior Director, Product Development at ALO, a company driven by the philosophy of mindful movement leading to better living. The core purpose of ALO is to inspire consciousness from yoga practice into daily life. The Senior Director will be responsible for building and coaching a strong team of product managers, ensuring they develop valuable and viable solutions. This involves gaining deep knowledge of customers and business constraints across various departments such as marketing, merchandising, customer service, finance, legal, and technology. The role emphasizes developing product managers who focus on delivering outcomes rather than just meeting dates, acting as a 'Play-Coach' willing to actively participate when needed. A key aspect is ensuring the team solves root problems, not just symptoms. The Senior Director will also assist with quarterly planning, assign objectives to product teams, and guide them in developing product vision, strategy, and roadmaps that align with the company's long-term vision and deliver tangible business impact.

Requirements

  • Proven track record over multiple years as an individual contributor product manager responsible for delivering impact in B2C product experience in mobile and web applications.
  • Proven ability to go deep and quickly learn new domains; strong demonstration of business acumen in major parts of the business (i.e., merchandising, marketing, finance, legal, etc.)
  • Demonstrated understanding of the techniques and methods of modern product discovery and product delivery – with a focus on impact over meeting delivery dates.
  • Lead by context, not control. Has a track record of coaching and developing other people.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of your role as the primary coach of your product managers, and how that differs from managing products directly.
  • Proven track record of delivering results through collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Willing to give and accept critical feedback.
  • Sharp analytical and quantitative skills; makes data-driven decisions using quantitative and qualitative insights.
  • You’re creative in using alternative sources to gain insights when there’s no data.
  • A problem solver obsessed with understanding your customers and solving problems for them that meet business goals.
  • Excellent organization, verbal, and written communication skills with technical and non-technical partners.
  • Applied experience in agile and lean SDLC.

  • Responsible for ensuring we have a team of strong product managers.
  • You will focus on developing and coaching product managers.
  • Accountable for leading a team of product managers to ensure the solutions are valuable and viable.
