About The Position

The Senior Director, Supply Chain & Stores Procurement is a visionary leader accountable for all procurement categories supporting Macy’s stores, including logistics, facilities, supplies, and capital equipment and fixtures (excluding technology hardware). This role champions innovative sourcing strategies, cultivates strong supplier and stakeholder relationships, and leverages external market insights to create commercial advantage. Through strategic leadership, the Senior Director ensures Macy’s delivers exceptional value, elevates the in-store experience, and remains at the forefront of supplier-led innovation.

Requirements

  • Strategic Procurement Leadership: Proven ability to set and execute a bold, enterprise-wide procurement vision that aligns with business transformation goals and delivers measurable commercial value.
  • Strategic Sourcing & Category Management Expertise: Deep expertise in strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, and procurement operations across logistics, facilities, supplies, and capital equipment and fixtures.
  • Advanced Negotiation & Commercial Acumen: Advanced negotiation skills with a strong understanding of complex commercial contracting and innovative partnership models that drive long-term value.
  • Supplier Relationship & Ecosystem Management: Demonstrated success building and managing complex, high-value supplier partnerships while fostering supplier-led innovation and collaboration.
  • Market Insight & Innovation Orientation: Ability to leverage external market intelligence, professional networks, and industry trends to identify new opportunities, technologies, and sourcing strategies.
  • Executive Communication & Influence: Excellent communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence executive leaders and represent procurement at the enterprise level.
  • Analytical & Data-Driven Decision Making: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, using KPIs and insights to measure performance, manage risk, and drive accountability.

  • Candidates with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply.
  • 15+ years of experience in logistics and 10+ years of professional senior-level procurement experience.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.

Responsibilities

  • Articulate and inspire a bold vision for supply chain and stores procurement, anticipating future trends and aligning strategies with Macy’s transformation priorities.
  • Lead procurement innovation by proactively identifying new solutions, technologies, and market opportunities that drive commercial advantage and operational excellence.
  • Build and sustain strategic partnerships with suppliers and stakeholders, fostering trust, collaboration, and shared accountability for results.
  • Champion Macy’s as a customer of choice, motivating suppliers to bring forward their best ideas, capabilities, and innovations.
  • Establish standards of excellence through strong governance, compliance, and process frameworks that enable performance and continuous improvement.
  • Leverage external market intelligence and best practices to inform strategy and unlock incremental value for the business.
  • Define, track, and manage key functional KPIs, using data-driven insights to measure performance, communicate impact, and drive accountability.
  • Represent procurement at the executive level, influencing enterprise strategy and advocating for the needs of stores colleagues and customers.
  • Develop and inspire talent, fostering a culture of learning, growth, and high performance that attracts and retains top procurement professionals.
  • Deliver innovative sourcing and category management strategies that maximize value and support Macy’s operational and customer experience objectives.
  • Manage complex supplier relationships and negotiations to achieve breakthrough results and long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships.
  • Implement and optimize procurement tools, systems, and processes to enable efficient and effective execution.
  • Partner cross-functionally with stores, supply chain, finance, and other stakeholders to understand business needs and deliver tailored procurement solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline workflows, automate processes, and enhance overall performance.
  • Report on outcomes and impact, providing clear, actionable insights to senior leadership.
