As a designated Magnet Hospital, Scripps Memorial La Jolla was the first San Diego hospital honored by the American Nursing Association for delivering excellence in patient care. Reporting to the VP, Chief Operations Executive, you will be responsible for efficient and effective operations within assigned nursing departments like the Emergency Department and several support, and ancillary services. Align system strategies with site operations to assure nursing practice reflects established standards of care and practice and establishes a culture that promotes patient safety. Responsible and accountable for the safe transition of patients through the continuum of care to include active participation of nursing staff in planning and coordinating patient care, and direct hand-off to next appropriate level of care. Be responsible for the provision of the overall administration, operation, direction, design, financial performance, human resource management, regulatory compliance, quality, utilization management, marketing, integration and evaluation of assigned units. #LI-JS1

Requirements

  • Masters degree plus ten years applicable clinical experience, five of which in a leadership role. Requires excellent skills in communication, problem-solving, team development, planning and follow-through.
  • Ability to exercise the authority and responsibility for assigned services based on the scope of the organization and complexity of patient care.
  • Graduate of an accredited program.
  • Must possess comprehensive knowledge of the health care environment including economic factors, change theory, clinical care delivery in the acute, ambulatory and long-term setting. Demonstrates expertise in leadership in a dynamic environment that requires exceptional flexibility. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, complex problem-solving abilities, planning and follow through.
  • Maintains current California RN license.
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification or American Red Cross BLS.
