As a premier mountain destination, JHMR delivers world-class guest experiences through exceptional terrain, services, and hospitality. Retail and rental operations are a critical component of the guest journey and represent a significant revenue engine and brand touchpoint for the resort. The Senior Director of Retail & Rental is a senior leadership role responsible for setting the strategic vision, owning full P&L performance, and ensuring operational excellence across Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s multi-location retail and rental business. This role leads a complex organization of more than 360 employees across numerous branded locations and oversees a large inventory procurement, distribution, and logistics operation. The Senior Director plays a critical role in elevating the guest experience, developing high-performing leaders, and positioning JHMR as an industry leader in mountain retail and rental services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in multi-unit retail, rental, or a related consumer business.
  • Demonstrated experience owning and managing a large P&L.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop large, diverse teams across multiple locations.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to interpret and act on financial and operational data.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead effectively in fast-paced, high-volume, and seasonal operating environments.

Responsibilities

  • Set and execute the long-term strategic vision for the retail and rental business in alignment with overall resort objectives and specific to each retail/rental location.
  • Own full P&L responsibility, including revenue growth, margin performance, expense management, and inventory investment.
  • Lead annual business inventory and operational planning, budgeting, forecasting, marketing and multi-year growth initiatives.
  • Analyze industry trends, guest insights, and competitive intelligence to drive innovation and differentiation.
  • Develop, mentor, and retain leaders and managers while building a strong succession pipeline.
  • Lead future retail and rental expansion, remodels, and concept development initiatives.
  • Acquisition of vendor partnerships for volume and top line revenue growth.
  • Establishes and maintains inventory receipt budget.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations across all retail and rental locations, including the central inventory warehouse.
  • Ensure best-in-class merchandise planning, buying, receiving, allocation, and inventory control processes.
  • Deliver on key performance indicators related to financial performance, guest satisfaction, employee engagement, and inventory turns.
  • Direct physical inventory processes, reconciliation, shrink control, and system accuracy.
  • Oversee retail and rental technology systems, including ongoing maintenance and future enhancements.
  • Manage resort-wide employee uniform programs and promotional merchandising programs.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration to identify net resort growth through partnerships and programming with inter operational departments.
  • Collaborate with Marketing on brand standards, seasonal campaigns, and promotional execution.
  • Partner closely with HR, Marketing, Finance, Operations, Mountain Leadership, and Guest Services to align people, processes, and resources.
  • Work with HR and Guest Services to advance leadership development, training programs, and guest service excellence initiatives to develop human capital bench strength.
