Senior Director of Operations

VEIRWoburn, MA
14h$210,000 - $230,000

About The Position

VEIR is enabling a new generation of compact, efficient, high-power, and long-distance power delivery solutions, solving bottlenecks that exist across the entire electricity value chain, from generation through to data center server racks. VEIR's low voltage superconducting solutions are enabling new power delivery architectures in the world’s largest data centers and our higher voltage solutions are poised to revolutionize the development of electricity transmission and distribution lines. VEIR is preparing for rapid growth as we seek to solve critical challenges facing data center developers, electricity generation developers, and utilities around the world. The Role As Senior Director of Operations, you will serve as a key member of VEIR’s operations leadership team, owning critical operational functions that enable the company to scale with business operations (IT, safety, and facilities) as primary areas of ownership, with strategic oversight of manufacturing and supply chain. Part of this role will be driving VEIR’s internal AI adoption. Identifying high-value use cases and deploying tools that meaningfully improve how the company operates. You will translate company strategy into executable operational plans, lead and grow a high-performing team, and ensure VEIR has the infrastructure, systems, and processes in place to support rapid growth and deliver reliably for the world’s most demanding customers. You will step into the role at a pivotal moment: VEIR is delivering customer hardware and establishing its first commercial manufacturing capabilities. This is a high-impact leadership role for an operator who is as comfortable setting strategic direction as they are driving hands-on execution across a fast-moving, cross-functional team.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive operations leadership experience, including roles at the Director level or above within advanced manufacturing, deep tech, energy, or adjacent hardware-intensive industries.
  • Familiarity with the operational demands of scaling complex hardware from prototype through pilot to full production, sufficient to provide effective cross-functional partnership and strategic oversight to dedicated manufacturing and supply chain teams.
  • Hands-on experience implementing and maturing an ISO 9001-aligned quality management system; this is a requirement, not a preference.
  • Demonstrated experience owning IT strategy and infrastructure in a scaling company, including leading the evaluation and internal deployment of AI tools to improve operational efficiency, decision-making, and team productivity.
  • Direct ownership of EHS programs and facilities management, with a track record of building safe, efficient, and scalable operational environments, including experience managing a facilities relocation or build-out.
  • Experience managing hybrid manufacturing models, balancing internal factory operations with contract manufacturers and external partners to accelerate scale and reduce cost.
  • Familiarity with supply chain fundamentals; sourcing, planning, logistics, and supplier development, sufficient to provide senior oversight and partnership to a dedicated supply chain function.
  • BA/BS in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, or a related field

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with hyperscale data center or mission-critical power/thermal infrastructure environments and the performance and reliability expectations of those customers is a strong plus.
  • MBA or advanced degree is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Immerse in VEIR’s customers, products, people, and culture, contextualizing the current state of operations with particular focus on IT infrastructure, EHS programs, and facilities, as well as the broader manufacturing and supply chain landscape.
  • Build trusted relationships with your direct team and key cross-functional counterparts in Engineering, Product, People & Culture, and Finance to understand priorities and establish credibility as an operational partner.
  • Identify the highest-impact near-term operational gaps and risks, and develop a prioritized action plan with clear owners and timelines.
  • Establish a cadence of operational reviews, metrics, and reporting that gives the leadership team real-time visibility into performance across all functions you own.
  • Establish yourself as a strategic partner to VEIR’s manufacturing and supply chain teams, developing a clear understanding of their priorities, gaps, and growth needs to inform cross-functional planning and resource decisions.
  • Lead the planning and coordination of VEIR’s headquarters relocation, assessing requirements, engaging relevant vendors and stakeholders, and building a project plan to execute the move with minimal disruption to operations.
  • Stand up or strengthen core operational processes across facilities, IT, and safety, building the systems and tools needed to scale.
  • Support cost engineering and margin improvement efforts by surfacing practical levers across yield, cost reduction, and gross margin as production ramps.
  • Advance VEIR’s EHS program, embedding a safety-first culture across all operational environments including the lab, manufacturing floor, and field.
  • Develop and implement an IT strategy that ensures VEIR’s systems, tools, and data infrastructure scale securely and efficiently with the business — including leading the identification and adoption of internal AI tools that improve operational efficiency, decision quality, and team productivity across the organization.
  • Drive the HQ relocation project to completion, managing vendors, coordinating logistics, and ensuring the new facility is operational and set up to support VEIR’s growing team and production needs.
  • Serve as the operations voice in NPI processes, partnering with Engineering and Product to flag manufacturability and testability gaps before designs reach the manufacturing floor.
  • Provide strategic oversight and cross-functional support to VEIR’s supply chain team, helping align vendor partnerships, delivery performance, and cost outcomes with company priorities.
  • Lead a high-performing, accountable Operations organization with clear ownership, strong cross-functional operating alignment, and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Have implemented an ISO 9001-aligned quality management system that scales with the company and ensures product reliability, traceability, and fast feedback loops.
  • Own capacity planning and factory readiness for hyperscale demand, ensuring facilities, equipment, staff, and suppliers are positioned ahead of growth inflections.
  • Have built a resilient, cost-optimized supply chain that balances speed, reliability, and risk as VEIR transitions from pilots to scaled production.
  • Support cross-functional execution of VEIR’s first customer pilot, contributing to manufacturing readiness, field deployment, and commissioning milestones.
  • Completed the HQ relocation with minimal disruption to operations, establishing the new facility as a production-ready, scalable home for VEIR’s growing team.
  • Drive a mature EHS program that is recognized as a strategic advantage and sets the standard for safe operations across all VEIR environments.
  • Ensure VEIR’s core business infrastructure, IT systems, facilities, and operational tools reliably supports a growing, distributed team executing at pace, with a roadmap in place for continued investment and improvement.
  • Established a meaningful internal AI adoption program — identifying high-value use cases, deploying tools across relevant functions, and building a culture of thoughtful, effective AI use that improves how VEIR operates.
