Senior Director of Integrated Communications

Social DriverWashington, DC

About The Position

As Senior Director of Integrated Communications, you will be the trusted subject matter expert who helps clients and teams navigate their biggest communications challenges. From guiding account leaders on strategy to stepping in with clients directly, you’ll bring clarity, confidence, and a full-suite perspective on what’s possible — whether that means new messaging, a brand refresh, a public relations push, digital campaigns, thought leadership, or even crisis and reputation management. This is a role for a leader who can both inspire and elevate: mentoring a cross-functional team, strengthening day-to-day execution, and instilling the confidence to think bigger. You’ll report to the VP of Creative Services and work to expand Social Driver’s capabilities, connecting our in-house talent with external partners and contractors as needed, ensuring we always deliver the right solution at the right time. We’re looking for a communicator who thrives at the intersection of strategy and execution — someone who sees the whole picture, translates client needs into actionable plans, and raises the bar for creativity, speed, and impact. If you’re passionate about building trusted brands, leading teams, and shaping the future of a full-service communications agency, this is your opportunity to make history with us.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in communications, PR, digital, or public affairs with a proven record of leading integrated strategies.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and mentoring talent to raise performance.
  • Strong strategist and trusted advisor, able to diagnose client needs and recommend holistic communications solutions.
  • Expertise across PR, digital, social, content, and paid media, with the ability to integrate tactics for measurable impact.
  • Business acumen with experience managing budgets, scopes, and client relationships.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; fast-paced agency experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute a unified vision for Social Driver’s Communications function, integrating PR, digital, social, and paid media into one high-performing, full-service team.
  • Partner with Directors of Engagement on their key accounts to provide high-level communications guidance and crisis counsel.
  • Mentor and inspire team members at all levels, building their skills, confidence, and ability to think like full-service communicators.
  • Oversee staffing allocations, hiring plans, and contractor/vendor partnerships to ensure we can deliver the right solutions at the right time.
  • Streamline workflows and processes to increase speed, responsiveness, and efficiency in reporting, campaign tracking, QA, and community management.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive culture that balances creativity with accountability and operational discipline.
  • Diagnose client challenges quickly and design holistic communications solutions — from digital campaigns and brand refreshes to CEO visibility, thought leadership, or crisis response.
  • Lead strategy and quality control across campaigns, ensuring recommendations align with client goals, business outcomes, and audience insights.
  • Guide high-level PR efforts, including press strategy, media outreach, earned placements, and crisis communications.
  • Partner with Creative and other departments to deliver integrated, award-winning campaigns that elevate client impact.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and executive sponsor for key client relationships, providing strategic counsel and strengthening long-term partnerships.
  • Collaborate with Business Development to scope communications strategies for prospective clients, drawing on both in-house and external capabilities.
  • Contribute to proposals, pitches, and pricing by positioning Social Driver as a strategic communications partner, not just an executional vendor.
  • Work with our internal Strategic Growth team (led by our co-founder Anthony Shop) to capture and showcase success stories through case studies, awards submissions, and thought leadership content.
  • Identify opportunities to expand Social Driver’s communications offerings and capabilities, including through contractor/vendor networks.
  • Stay ahead of trends in communications, PR, digital media, and audience behavior, bringing fresh thinking and new solutions into the agency.
  • Encourage experimentation with emerging platforms, technologies, and storytelling formats that build trust and influence.
  • Represent Social Driver externally at industry events, building the agency’s profile as a leading full-service communications partner.
  • Champion internal innovation by inspiring the team to see themselves as part of a cutting-edge, future-facing communications firm.
