Founded in 1980, Urban Resource Institute (URI) is the nation's largest provider of domestic violence shelter services and a leader in supporting homeless families. Operating 24 shelters across New York City, URI provides 3,700 beds nightly in purpose-built shelters that offer trauma-informed services including counseling, childcare, case management, and more. URI's Justice Initiatives extend support beyond shelter, offering programs in economic empowerment, legal advocacy, youth prevention, and abusive partner intervention. URI also develops permanent affordable housing as part of its long-term commitment to safety, stability, and healing. The Senior Director Institutional Giving is a mission-driven, strategic leader responsible for overseeing all aspects of institutional giving at URI—including corporate partnerships, private foundations, and government grant strategy in collaboration with the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and the Vice President of Develoopment. Reporting to the Vice President of Development, this role leads a growing team of professionals, including the Director of Development (Corporate and Foundation Relations), Development Manager/Grant Writer, and contracted grant writers. The Senior Director will drive and scale a comprehensive institutional fundraising program that fuels URI's growth and impact. They will oversee relationship strategies, proposal pipelines, stewardship practices, and cross-department collaboration to secure sustainable revenue from a diverse and expanding base of funders. This is a highly collaborative leadership role that requires excellent team management, superior writing and strategy skills, and a deep commitment to URI's mission, vision and values.
