About The Position

Reporting directly to the Network Associate Vice President of Behavioral Health, the Senior Director of Operations (SD-BH) is an organizational leader responsible for the oversight of all current and future clinical operations at Citizen Advocates. The leader oversees day-to-day operations, builds strategies and influences the executive team to achieve business objectives for Behavioral Health. The SD-BH will collaborate with nursing, Customer Experience and Community Operations leadership to drive business initiatives forward. The SD-BH is a people-oriented thought leader who spends up to fifty (50) percent of their time on strategy and collaboration. Though important, the SD-BH’s technical skills are outweighed by a familiarity with industry trends, the ability to manage and inspire direct reports, and the ability to build consensus through articulate and visual communication styles. The SD-BH must have exceptional people skills and live by our cultural beliefs, demonstrating poise and positivity through all interactions. As a key member of the senior leadership team, the SD-BH has programmatic oversight of profitability, staffing, morale, certification, program development, budgeting, community networking, strategic initiatives, and special projects for all clinical operations. The SD-BH will drive the development and execution of short- and long-term business plans and strategic goals for clinical operations.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree in health and human services, social work/mental health, public health or related field is preferred, a bachelor’s degree is required, with 10+ years of healthcare experience, 8+ of which is in a supervisory capacity.
  • Experience with OMH, OASAS, OPWDD, and DOH regulations and programs is required.
  • Strong people skills with a laser focus on coaching and development of the leadership team.
  • Ability to promote a team atmosphere of trust and professionalism, promoting the organization’s Cultural Beliefs.
  • Proven track record of demonstrating servant leadership with a strong focus on quality customer service
  • Ability to cultivate meaningful, positive relationships and partnerships and skilled in relating to and communicating with both internal and external parties
  • Demonstrates resiliency and ownership over work results, taking personal initiative displaying courtesy and respect, producing work with a high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills are required, both verbal and written
  • Highly proficient in computer software applications
  • Demonstrated experience as a business partner who is motivated to help CA deliver its core mission
  • Ability to analyze, navigate and resolve complex issues with agility to adjust to multiple demands and shifting priorities

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with other Senior Directors and leadership to ensure high quality, profitable operations for the organization.
  • Manages and oversee the departments responsible for the provision of all clinical services at Citizen Advocates.
  • Creates and drives accountability for expectations, project plans and deliverables for clinical operations, completing performance appraisals and development plans for the team.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor to the Network Associate Vice President of Behavioral Health in our overall strategic plan within clinical operations with a devoted focus on efficiency, integrity, profitability, and high quality care.
  • Able to create compelling business plans, stunning PowerPoint presentations, and credible budgets using excel and other platforms.
  • Approves, coordinates and controls all projects related to growth, both programmatically and geographically, within clinical operations.
  • Ensures the successful execution of strategic initiatives related to clinical operations completion short- and long- term strategic plans for each department.
  • Highly skilled in effectively executing major capital projects, on time and on budget to facilitate programmatic and geographic expansion.
  • Provides advice on evaluation and selection of grant initiatives, crafting a grant strategy for clinical operations that ensures sustainability.
  • Cultivates a culture within clinical operations that ensures adequate staffing while maintaining fiscal viability of all programmatic offerings.
  • Evaluates current and future initiatives based three components – meeting our mission and vision, ability to be best in class, and driving our economic engine.
  • Develops and monitors the approved annual operating budget for clinical operations.
  • Maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders at the state and federal levels as well as partnerships with colleagues in the industry.
  • Evaluates alternatives, performs appropriate cost benefit analysis, and recommends solutions that maximize effectiveness and minimize costs commensurate with acceptable risks to ensure the provision of profitable programs.
  • Ensures that all clinical programs are operating according to internal standards, external accrediting agency standards, regulatory agencies, and legal requirements, being a subject matter expert in key regulations.
  • Ensures the gathering and distribution of pertinent information required by management to make decisions in a timely, accurate and cost-effective manner.
  • Analyzes and has a firm understanding of data analytics and financial reports and acts on significant trends affecting overall performance of the department - presents analytics and recommendations to the executive leadership team when directed to do so.
  • Establishes and meets targeted goals and development growth plans for self and staff; monitors employee performance and conducts effective performance evaluations.
