About The Position

This leadership role drives strategy and operational excellence in merchant services, focusing on expanding payment acceptance for fuel and non-fuel products across a broad merchant portfolio. The position combines high-level strategic vision with hands-on technical oversight to accelerate revenue growth, modernize infrastructure, and optimize onboarding processes. You will work cross-functionally with sales, engineering, finance, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of new merchant sites and maintain high standards for compliance and data quality. This role empowers you to influence both commercial strategy and technical execution, while mentoring and developing high-performing teams in a remote-friendly environment. Success in this position directly impacts revenue, efficiency, and customer satisfaction across complex merchant ecosystems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technical, or Management field (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of leadership experience managing cross-functional teams in payments, fintech, or related technical environments.
  • Proven expertise in merchant onboarding, API integrations, network configuration, and technical project execution.
  • Demonstrated success in contract negotiation, strategic planning, and operational management.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of translating complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience managing multiple complex projects concurrently with resilience, adaptability, and strategic problem-solving.
  • Ability to develop and implement practical, scalable processes, documentation, and systems to improve efficiency and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategy and execution for merchant acquisition, product acceptance, and revenue growth initiatives.
  • Drive modernization of technical infrastructure, including APIs, network configurations, and system integrations to improve speed-to-revenue.
  • Oversee the end-to-end merchant onboarding process, ensuring efficient agreement creation, certification, and deployment.
  • Act as the primary liaison across Sales, Engineering, Operations, Legal, Finance, and Network teams to ensure smooth integration of merchant sites.
  • Establish and maintain compliance and data validation standards, collaborating with POS providers and networks for secure and accurate transactions.
  • Provide technical oversight for network and platform configurations, including error-handling, VPN/firewall management, and system reliability.
  • Build and mentor high-performing teams, implementing tools and processes for project management, performance tracking, and professional development.
