About The Position

The Senior Director of Human Resources is the strategic HR leader for LexisNexis Intellectual Property (LNIP), a $265M global business unit with approximately 1,200 employees across North America, Europe, and Asia. Serving as the primary HR advisor to the President of LNIP and his leadership team, this executive brings a business-first mindset to shaping organizational strategy, scaling global operations, and enabling long-term growth. This role aligns HR priorities with LNIP’s business strategy across two commercial businesses (Life Sciences and Intellectual Property) as well as a large federal contract. The Senior Director is accountable for ensuring that organizational design, talent strategy, culture, and workforce planning support high performance, strong employee engagement, and operational excellence. This leader manages a U.S.-based team of four HR professionals and partners closely with global HR colleagues across Compensation, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, and Employee Relations, serving as the integrator in driving cohesive, enterprise-aligned HR solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in HR, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, ideally within a global, matrixed organization.
  • Demonstrated success operating as a strategic business partner to senior executives.
  • Deep expertise in organizational design, talent management, workforce planning, and complex employee relations.
  • Proven ability to lead through ambiguity, influence without authority, and manage competing business priorities.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven mindset with the ability to translate insights into action.
  • Experience leading HR teams and managing large-scale organizational change.
  • Familiarity with federal contracting environments or highly regulated industries is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive AI culture and to utilize core AI tools to improve HR workflows strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the chief HR advisor to the President of LNIP and his executive leadership team, bringing thought leadership on organizational strategy, workforce planning, and culture.
  • Translate business priorities into actionable HR strategies across LNIP’s commercial businesses and federal contract operations.
  • Guide leaders on organizational design, role clarity, workforce architecture, and location strategy to drive operating efficiency and business growth.
  • Act as a trusted coach and advisor to senior executives, supporting leadership effectiveness and team performance.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition and business leaders to drive strategic hiring and global talent deployment.
  • Lead talent assessment, succession planning, and leadership development efforts to build a strong, diverse leadership pipeline.
  • Monitor organizational health and employee engagement, providing insights and interventions to enhance culture and retention.
  • Apply a data-driven approach to diagnosing organizational challenges and proposing evidence-based solutions.
  • Lead the value-add adoption of AI tools for all employees and drive an AI-first culture.
  • Utilize AI tools for HR productivity and efficiency, redesigning HR workflows and processes for increased speed and innovation.
  • Collaborate with global HR centers of excellence—Compensation, TA, L&D, HRBP community, and Employee Relations—to deliver consistent, effective, and business-centric HR programs.
  • Oversee LNIP’s semiannual compensation cycles, ensuring competitive, equitable, and strategically aligned pay decisions.
  • Provide senior-level guidance on complex and sensitive employee relations matters in partnership with corporate ER and Legal.
  • Manage government operations, including employee relations and hiring specific to the federal contract environment.
  • Leverage deep knowledge of federal contracting requirements, including security clearances, compliance protocols, and background screening.
  • Serves as a critical member of the HR Leadership Team bringing enterprise thought leadership, best practices and collegial leadership to the table.
  • Lead HR due diligence efforts for global acquisitions, assessing talent, organizational structure, cultural considerations, and legal implications.
  • Develop and execute end-to-end integration strategies to ensure smooth onboarding and alignment of newly acquired teams.
  • Partner with business and HR stakeholders globally to integrate policies, harmonize processes, and support cultural assimilation.
  • Advise senior leadership on change management and communication strategies across the M&A lifecycle.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a U.S.-based HR team, fostering a collaborative, high-performing, business-oriented HR culture.
  • Work in close partnership with HR colleagues across Europe and Asia to ensure seamless global service delivery.
  • Build strong relationships with shared services teams, corporate HR, and HR leaders across LexisNexis and RELX to advance enterprise-wide alignment.
