About The Position

The Senior Director, HR Technology will provide strategic direction and operational oversight for Amentum's HR technology platforms. They will serve as the functional and technical expert on all Workday-related initiatives while fostering collaboration between HR, IT, and business stakeholders. This leader will ensure seamless HR service delivery through scalable technology solutions that drive business outcomes, accelerate digital transformation, power targeted employee engagement strategies, and enhance employee experiences. This is a REMOTE role teleworking from home, requiring occasional travel to work on-site at Amentum’s U.S. headquarters in Virginia. US Citizenship is required to apply.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Typically 15+ years of HR/HR Technology expertise , including leadership responsibility overseeing enterprise-level systems.
  • At least 5+ years of hands-on Workday HCM experience , with demonstrated success optimizing and managing various key modules.
  • Proficiency in Workday modules , including HCM, Talent Management, Total Rewards, and Security.
  • Experience working with ServiceNow or similar platforms in system integration environments is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience partnering and inspiring teams within a centralized/shared services operating model .
  • A strong balance of people management and technical acumen, with the ability to align cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to build trust and gain buy-in from diverse, global teams.

Responsibilities

  • HR Technology Strategy & Optimization Define and execute a multi-year HR technology strategy that aligns with Amentum’s corporate objectives and HR goals globally.
  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert on Workday HCM, including modules such as Core HR, Talent, Total Rewards (Compensation and Benefits), and Security.
  • Develop and implement strategies to incorporate AI-driven tools for optimizing HR processes, predictive analytics, and enhancing digital experiences.
  • Oversee the governance, configuration, and administration of HR technology platforms while ensuring cybersecurity, data privacy, data integrity, and compliance.
  • Partner with IT, Finance and HR teams to enable seamless integration with other systems, including ServiceNow and other enterprise tools.
  • Drive continuous improvement and identify opportunities to enhance the user experience using emerging tools, features, and digital solutions.
  • Leadership & Collaboration Build and develop a high-performing HR technology team of functional and technical experts, empowering them to lead transformational initiatives.
  • Collaborate with HR Shared Services, HR Centers of Excellence, and other business partners to understand organizational strategies and translate them into technology requirements.
  • Act as an executive partner to senior leaders, communicating effectively to drive alignment on system priorities, capabilities, and change management.
  • Foster a strong culture of accountability, innovation, and data-driven decision-making.
  • HR Operations & Service Delivery Optimize the centralized/shared services operating model, providing scalable solutions for global HR operations.
  • Enhance HR service delivery through strategic alignment with People Analytics teams, leveraging data insights to improve decision-making, employee engagement, and workforce strategies.
  • Collaborate with HR, IT and Finance stakeholders to streamline hire-to-retire processes, position management, onboarding, payroll and other key workflows.
  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors and system integrators to ensure effective delivery, maintenance, and support.
  • Partner with HR and business units during organizational changes, such as mergers, acquisitions (M&A), divestitures, or system transformations, to enable smooth transitions and stakeholder alignment.
  • Develop post-M&A system integration plans and ensure alignment with HR goals.
  • Data, Governance & Compliance Ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as GDPR, OFCCP, SOX, and AAP, building and maintaining systems that enforce security and audit-readiness.
  • Collaborate closely with People Analytics teams to design and govern HR data structures that enable advanced analytics and actionable insights for strategic workforce planning.
  • Monitor data quality across HR platforms through robust governance frameworks and proven system controls.
  • Lead the team in developing HR data structures that enable accurate, well‑governed data to enable targeted employee engagement and communication strategies.
  • Leverage analytics to provide key insights about HR process performance and system efficiencies.
  • Project & Change Management Lead complex, large-scale HR technology implementations from inception through deployment by applying proven project management methodologies.
  • Align project lifecycles, deliverables, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) with overarching organizational goals.
  • Oversee change management strategies to foster adoption, drive user engagement, and minimize system disruptions.
  • Act as a key stakeholder for driving post-deployment evaluations and identifying future enhancements.
