About The Position

Madrigal is a biopharmaceutical company focused on delivering novel therapeutics for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), a serious liver disease that can progress to cirrhosis, liver failure, need for liver transplantation and premature mortality. Madrigal’s medication, Rezdiffra (resmetirom), is a once-daily, oral, liver-directed THR-β agonist designed to target key underlying causes of MASH. Rezdiffra is the first and only medication approved by both the FDA and European Commission for the treatment of MASH with moderate to advanced fibrosis (F2 to F3). An ongoing Phase 3 outcomes trial is evaluating Rezdiffra for the treatment of compensated MASH cirrhosis (F4c). Our success is driven by our people. Madrigal is seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Director, HR Communications to lead the development, integration, and execution of a comprehensive communications framework that advances our HR strategic agenda. This leader will partner closely with the CHRO, HR leadership team, and Corporate Communications to ensure clear, consistent, and compelling internal messaging that strengthens understanding of business priorities, enhances organizational culture, and supports employees through periods of growth and change. The ideal candidate brings deep experience operating in a corporate environment as a communications business partner or functional partner, with a track record of shaping narrative, managing complex stakeholder needs, and translating strategy into actionable communication plans. This individual will serve as the communications “center of excellence” for HR elevating the employee experience, strengthening engagement, and helping position Madrigal as a great place to work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Human Resources, Business, or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive corporate communications experience, including serving as a communications partner to business or functional executives.
  • Demonstrated success creating and executing communication strategies for complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Experience supporting HR functions or people-related initiatives (e.g., culture change, talent programs, organizational development, transformation).
  • Exceptional writing, storytelling, and editing skills with the ability to simplify complex information.
  • Strong executive presence and the ability to influence senior leaders with confidence.
  • Proven ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and sound judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Framework Development Develop and implement a holistic HR communications strategy aligned with Human Resources and enterprise priorities.
  • Build a multi-layered strategic communications framework that ties together HR initiatives (e.g., Workplace, talent, culture, D&I, leadership development, performance, total rewards, ESG) with clear messaging, storytelling, and measurable outcomes.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CHRO and HR Leadership Team, providing insights, messaging guidance, and strategic counsel on communications risks and opportunities.
  • Communications Planning & Execution Lead the creation of content and campaigns that communicate the HR vision, initiatives, and change management activities to employees at all levels.
  • Partner with Corporate Communications to ensure messaging alignment with broader organizational communications and brand voice.
  • Develop communication strategies for HR programs, including organizational announcements, policy rollouts, new HR technology, culture initiatives, and leadership communications.
  • Craft executive-ready materials including talking points, presentations, scripts, leadership emails, intranet content, and Q&A documents.
  • Oversee consistent narrative development across channels: email, leader toolkits, town halls, intranet, video, digital platforms, and manager communications.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration Act as the primary communications partner for the CHRO’s direct staff, shaping communication plans for key HR workstreams.
  • Coordinate with Corporate Communications, Employee Experience, IT, and business leadership to ensure communications alignment and optimal distribution.
  • Train and support HR and people leaders on effective communication practices and change adoption.
  • Change Management & Organizational Alignment Partner with HR leaders to drive change communications for Real Estate & Facility matters, talent initiatives, organizational transformations, employee programs, and enterprise-wide changes.
  • Ensure employees understand and are engaged with strategic HR and organizational priorities.
  • Anticipate information needs and design proactive communications that minimize confusion and increase clarity.
  • Team Leadership & Operations Lead and develop a small team or matrixed contributors to deliver high-quality communications support.
  • Create a consistent operating rhythm for HR communications (calendars, templates, dashboards, reporting).
  • Establish metrics to measure communication effectiveness and continuously enhance approaches.
