About The Position

This role is responsible for defining and leading enterprise-wide employment practices, ensuring compliance, and fostering a consistent and positive employee experience across the organization. The Senior Director will oversee employee relations, HR compliance, global mobility, and immigration programs while serving as a strategic advisor to HR and business leaders. This position requires a strong blend of legal knowledge, operational expertise, and leadership skills to drive proactive employment strategies, mitigate risk, and support organizational goals. The successful candidate will guide policy development, manage complex employee issues, and implement scalable processes across multiple jurisdictions. Collaboration, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders are critical for success in this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, HR, or related field with 12+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 7 years in a leadership role (MS, PhD, or 16+ years of experience may substitute).
  • Advanced knowledge of employment law, workers’ compensation, and HR compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing employee relations, labor negotiations, and arbitration processes.
  • Proven leadership ability, strategic planning, and ability to influence organizational culture.
  • Strong analytical, evaluative, consultative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills, with ability to interact across diverse populations.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters or JD degree, labor and employee relations experience in higher education, and familiarity with global HR practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a centralized employee relations function, providing guidance and resolution on complex employee matters while promoting consistent and equitable experiences.
  • Manage a team of Employee Relations experts, serving as an escalation point and driving professional development across the team.
  • Oversee HR compliance programs including background checks, safety, workers’ compensation, I-9/eVerify, and vendor compliance.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook guidelines; provide consultation on policies across functions.
  • Lead global mobility and immigration programs, including work authorization, visa processes, international assignments, relocation, repatriation, and taxation matters.
  • Advise leadership on labor relations, regulatory compliance, and employment practices; guide compliance and employment-related due diligence during mergers and acquisitions.
  • Implement training programs for workplace conduct, harassment/discrimination, and jurisdiction-specific HR compliance requirements.
