The Senior Director, Downstream Marketing, US Region, is a pivotal leadership role within the Pharmacy Automation business. Reporting to the VP, Global Downstream Marketing, this position is responsible for shaping and executing the downstream marketing strategy for the US region. The role is based in Durham, NC, for 3 days per week and plays a key part in driving commercial growth, market differentiation, and digital transformation for Pharmacy Automation solutions. The Senior Director will lead a team to deliver impactful go-to-market strategies, ensure alignment with global objectives, and support BD’s mission to advance the world of health.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, science, engineering, or related field (MBA preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience in product marketing, with capital equipment or healthcare technology industry experience strongly preferred
  • Proven record of successful commercial product launches
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Hands-on experience with digital marketing campaign execution
  • Understanding of automation platforms highly desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
  • Strategic acumen with the ability to balance high-level planning and operational execution
  • Exceptional relationship-building and influencing skills across all organizational levels
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% domestically

Responsibilities

  • Develop and Execute Regional Market Strategy: Craft and communicate a clear, customer-facing vision for Pharmacy Automation in the US region across all of customer segments: Retail, Closed Door and Long Term Care Pharmacy, Health Systems, National Accounts and the Department of Defense
  • Identify and prioritize growth opportunities within key customer segments.
  • Align marketing priorities with regional healthcare trends, regulatory requirements, and customer needs.
  • Ensure quality lead generation to driver commercial success for our sales teams
  • Partner closely with other teams across the organization: Sales, Upstream Marketing, Commercial Operations and Customer Service
  • Go-to-Market Execution: Design and drive a holistic omnichannel marketing strategy that combines high quality lead generation with latest technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual and/or augmented reality
  • Plan, organize, and execute participation in industry trade-shows and events to enhance brand visibility and generate leads.
  • Lead product launches, ensuring excellence in execution and market adoption. Beyond the launch, oversee the management of the entire product lifecycle, including growth, maturity, and phase-out, to ensure sustained market relevance and profitability.
  • Partner with Sales and Commercial Operations to deliver impactful sales enablement tools, collateral and other resources.
  • Portfolio Positioning and Differentiation: Define compelling value propositions that address clinical, operational, and financial benefits.
  • Create evidence-based market segmentation to ensure high sales force focus.
  • Ensure consistent messaging and differentiation in a competitive landscape.
  • Define and execute the BD Pharmacy Automation brand strategy for Parata and Rowa
  • Create annual marketing plans that are aligned with strategic objectives and stakeholders
  • Support the US Regional Annual Strategic Review process
  • Pricing Execution & Promotions: Lead the development and implementation of pricing strategies and promotional activities to maximize commercial success and market differentiation
  • Validate launch pricing and campaigns to drive rapid adoption and profitability of the offering
  • Monitor product pricing effectiveness and competitive landscape for continued pricing adjustments for capital equipment, service offerings, and consumables.
  • Market Intelligence and Insights: Lead the development of market insights to capture the voice of the customer, competitive intelligence, and emerging trends.
  • Translate insights into actionable strategies for product development and marketing execution.
  • Share market intelligence to inform strategic decisions and drive innovation.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Build and mentor a high-performing regional marketing team.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, agility, and accountability.
