About The Position

Leads Wake County Public Schools System (WCPSS) in digital literacy and library media programs including the development, acquisition, implementation, and assessment of print and digital resources, the facilitation of professional learning, and the integration of print and digital resources to increase student engagement, achievement, and success.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of state and national standards for curriculum including instructional technology;
  • Extensive knowledge of pedagogical practices, instructional frameworks, and assessment;
  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Google Apps;
  • Demonstrated successful experience of effective practices for teaching and learning;
  • Demonstrated success working with peers or other adults in leadership or training roles;
  • Demonstrated organizational and management abilities;
  • Ability to make independent judgments and to implement creative solutions to problems with minimal supervisory oversight;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, teachers, support staff, parents and community members.
  • Master’s degree in Educational Administration, Curriculum and Instruction, or Instructional Technology;
  • Five years of successful teaching experience;
  • Successful experience implementing and evaluating large scale digital projects;
  • Successful experience providing professional training to instructional staff;
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Hold or be eligible for a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in Computer Education (18079),
  • Instructional Technology Specialist-Computers (00077) or Library Media (00076);
  • Hold or be eligible for a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in one of the following administrative license areas: School Administrator-Principal (00012), Curriculum Instructional Specialist (113), or Instructional Technology Specialist-Computers (00077);
  • Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to the State of NC requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership for short- and long-range planning for all digital and library media initiatives: vision, goals, program objectives/strategies/activities, staffing, training, evaluation, budgeting, and collaboration with others.
  • Directs the implementation of the district’s digital learning plans in accordance with the state recommendations and guidelines.
  • Oversees the planning, development, and implementation of professional learning activities to meet NC Digital Learning Competencies.
  • Collaborates with leadership to integrate digital and print resources in the ongoing instructional program for all curriculum areas by identifying strategies and materials, and by implementing activities for integration.
  • Develops and oversees the implementation of special projects to promote technology.
  • Serves as a clearinghouse of information on trends, research, applications, and effective practices related to digital literacy and library media programs.
  • Responsible for serving as Digital Literacy and Libraries’ liaison between Academic Advancement and Area Superintendents.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.
