About The Position

Responsible for directing and managing all fundraising activities related to the acquisition of planned gifts including trusts and bequests, gifts of assets or life insurance proceeds or gift annuity plans. Work with Foundation and leadership to develop and implement a strategic plan designed to identify, cultivate and maintain relationships with key planned giving donors and prospects and professional advisors. Direct marketing and operational activities designed to support planning, execution and fulfillment of program goals. Be a key resource for all portfolio holders around legacy and trust services. Legacy Program Leadership: Drive the strategic direction and operational oversight of the comprehensive legacy program, managing complex estate administration, budget tracking, and high-level stakeholder engagement to ensure industry-leading excellence in planned giving. Portfolio Management: Drive the cultivation and solicitation of high-level planned and major gift prospects by partnering with organizational leadership and professional advisors to secure complex commitments while ensuring exceptional donor stewardship. Lead Advisor Outreach Program: Drive the strategic growth of the Children’s Legacy Advisors network by cultivating relationships with professional advisors through continuing education and consultations, ultimately securing high-value gift referrals and notifications for the mission. Community and Industry Leadership: Champion the Legacy Advancement Program to drive advisor engagement while serving as a visible ambassador through active membership and volunteerism in key regional Estate Planning Councils and Planned Giving networks. The Senior Director will additionally have expertise, knowledge, and experience in the following areas: Thorough knowledge in all areas of fundraising with particular emphasis on planned giving. Knowledge of estate planning techniques, income and estate tax issues, annuities, wills and trust arrangements. Ability to develop and maintain successful working relationships with the Foundation leadership, Physicians, Volunteers and Donors. Ability to successfully close “6-8 figure” planned and current gifts.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge in all areas of fundraising with particular emphasis on planned giving.
  • Knowledge of estate planning techniques, income and estate tax issues, annuities, wills and trust arrangements.
  • Ability to develop and maintain successful working relationships with the Foundation leadership, Physicians, Volunteers and Donors.
  • Ability to successfully close “6-8 figure” planned and current gifts.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional designation.
  • Minimum of seven years successful experience in planned giving or a related field such as major gift fundraising, law, accounting/finance, trust administration, life insurance or financial planning.
  • Minimum three years experience managing a team to successfully meet fundraising or revenue goals.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certification in the field of planned giving, financial or estate planning: CSPG, CAP, CFP, CPA, LLM or JD
  • Prior planned giving experience in a hospital or university setting.
