What is Cool About This Job This is a mission-critical leadership role that defines how the WP Engine brand communicates, engages, and drives growth in an AI-first world. As buyers shift from traditional search to AI-enabled discovery, content must evolve to reach them where they begin. You will define how our brand shows up in that new landscape—in LLMs, communities, developer ecosystems, and beyond. Reporting directly to the Chief Marketing Officer, you will shape the infrastructure, workflows, and strategy that enable our brand to lead in this era of intelligent discovery. You will combine journalistic instinct with marketing discipline to build a high-velocity "newsroom," using AI tools to enhance creativity and scale while positioning WP Engine as the definitive thought leader in the digital experience space. The Day to Day Enterprise Content Strategy: Define and lead the enterprise-wide content strategy that spans brand awareness, thought leadership, mid-and-late-funnel demand generation, and customer expansion. The AI Buyer Journey (GEO & SEO): Spearhead the evolution of our content approach to address the new AI-driven buyer journey. Ensure our content is primed for Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) and traditional SEO so it is surfaced by AI assistants and LLMs. Community & DevRel Distribution: Own the content distribution ecosystem beyond just the blog. Partner with Community and Developer Relations teams to drive engagement through developer tutorials, community platforms, and third-party syndication. Operationalizing AI Production: Build and operationalize a scalable content engine. Introduce and embed AI workflows to increase velocity and personalization while maintaining rigorous quality standards and brand voice. Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and grow a diverse, high-performance team of editors, content strategists, writers, and community producers. Impact in the First 6–12 Months Strategy: Build and implement a 12‑18 month content strategy aligned with business goals. Operations: Operationalize an AI-enabled content production and governance framework. Engine: Launch a unified community and developer relations content engine. Metrics: Deliver measurable improvements in content velocity, reach, and engagement, and establish content KPIs to measure impact on pipeline and brand. Channels: Activate 3–5 key third-party or community channels for distribution.

  • Team Management: 5+ years of experience leading and scaling high-performing content or editorial teams, with a proven ability to mentor senior talent and manage complex workflows.
  • AI & GEO Fluency: Deep understanding of the modern B2B buyer journey and AI-driven discovery behavior. You have experience optimizing content for LLMs (GEO) and integrating AI tools into creation workflows.
  • "Media Company" Mindset: You possess a journalistic instinct combined with marketing discipline. You know how to run an editorial calendar like a newsroom, balancing high-quality thought leadership with high-velocity production.
  • Collaborative Working Style: You thrive in a global, distributed environment (US, EMEA, APAC) and can partner broadly across Marketing, GTM, and Product teams. You lead with clarity, accountability, and a growth mindset.
  • Strategic & Analytical: Exceptional ability to link content output to measurable business results. You balance strategic perspective with hands-on editorial leadership.
