The Role: As the Senior Director of Clinical Education RN, you'll lead the charge in transforming clinical education across our service areas. Based in a dynamic and resourceful environment, you'll oversee clinical and inter-professional education, focusing on nurses, nursing personnel, and other clinical staff members, excluding Graduate Medical Education (GME). What You'll Do: Strategic Visionary: Oversee service-area professional practice, including shared governance and Magnet/Pathway structures and processes. Educational Architect: Implement and coordinate educational programs related to professional certifications, simulation, clinical staff orientation, competence, student placement, and career development. Collaborative Innovator: Work alongside system, division, regional, and operations leaders to strategize and source educational programs for caregivers, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective, and regulatory-compliant practices. Leadership Catalyst: Partner with subject-matter experts across disciplines to conduct education needs assessments, marshal resources, and evaluate program effectiveness. Facilitator of Learning: Guide clinical and interprofessional proficiency in collaboration with colleagues and the Executive Director, Education and Professional Practice. Budget Maestro: Develop and manage budgets utilizing best practices for assessing needs, designing interventions, scheduling training, and evaluating proficiency efficiently. Relationship Builder: Cultivate relationships with operations leaders to align educational activities with business needs and maximize cost-effectiveness, including Clinical Ladder Board goals and alternatives to traditional training. Subject Matter Expert: Identify developing trends and recommend changes as needed. Consultant: Serve as an internal consultant to leaders, aligning educational strategies with system-wide visions and hospital operations. Strategic Planner: Prioritize education spending in collaboration with leadership, ensuring alignment with strategic plans. Quality Enhancer: Collaborate with Quality leadership to align education outcomes with quality guidelines from CMS, Joint Commission, and DNV. ROI Analyst: Conduct return-on-investment analysis prior to training program initiation, ensuring economic feasibility. Compliance Enforcer: Ensure educational materials meet PH marketing and communication requirements and are appropriate for learners.

Requirements

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in nursing, with advanced degrees in nursing (MSN or Ph.D. preferred) OR if no MSN, Master's degree in related fields such as Health Administration, Business, or Public Health.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in direct patient care with progressive healthcare administration experience; 3 years in education/training with demonstrated presentation skills.
  • Consultancy Acumen: Experience as an internal or external consultant with project management expertise.
  • Licensure: Active RN License in WA state.
  • Skills: Strong leadership in patient placement, problem-solving, prioritization, presentation, and decision-making.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with hospital systems and processes, information systems, business analytics, and organizational development.
