Senior Director, Analyst Relations

Mimecast
$184,000 - $276,000

About The Position

Mimecast is revolutionizing security by helping customers prevent the evolving and sophisticated threats targeting human error within organizations. The Product Marketing organization is looking for an experienced and entrepreneurial Sr. Director, Analyst Relations to own and elevate Mimecast’s relationships with the industry analysts and influencers who shape how our market thinks, buys, and evaluates. This role will require an action-oriented leader who can translate Mimecast’s innovation story into analyst-ready narratives, turn research engagements into competitive advantage, and build an AR program that directly accelerates pipeline and brand authority. You will play a highly visible and strategic role across the company, engaging directly with marketing, product, and sales leadership to ensure that analyst coverage, vendor evaluations, and market research all reflect the full strength of Mimecast’s platform and vision. The ideal candidate will bring deep cybersecurity domain expertise, a proven track record of moving the needle on key analyst reports (Gartner Magic Quadrant, Forrester Wave), and the cross-functional instincts to turn analyst insights into actionable intelligence for product, sales, and go-to-market teams. What You'll Do:

Requirements

  • 10+ years of in-house analyst relations experience with progressive leadership responsibility at a high-growth B2B SaaS enterprise software company.
  • 8+ years of cybersecurity industry experience with a strong, demonstrable understanding of the analyst community, market dynamics, and competitive landscape.
  • Proven track record of securing or significantly improving a company’s position in key analyst vendor reports (Magic Quadrant, Forrester Wave, or equivalent).
  • Experience developing and executing global analyst relations programs that deliver measurable impact on brand awareness, pipeline, and revenue.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proven experience working across product, marketing, sales, and executive teams—aligning different functions toward a common narrative and measurable goals.
  • Strategic Communication: The ability to translate complex product and platform capabilities into clear, compelling stories for analyst audiences. Expertise in communicating with both executive and technical stakeholders to ensure relevance and clarity.
  • Drive for Results: Must be a motivated, self-starter who can work independently but also has the instincts to know when to bring in leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Change Agent Mindset: This position isn’t about repeating the current playbook. We want someone who will come in with fresh ideas and new thinking—including using emerging technologies and platforms—to drive business results and elevate the program.

Responsibilities

  • AR Strategy & Vision: Build and own the analyst relations strategy and plan, defining clear KPIs and success metrics that tie directly to business outcomes—brand awareness, lead generation, and deal acceleration.
  • Analyst Narrative: Work closely with product marketing, product, and sales to distill Mimecast’s platform story into compelling, value-based narratives that resonate with analysts and shape favorable market positioning.
  • Vendor Evaluations: Drive internal processes and cross-functional coordination for high-stakes analyst reports (Gartner Magic Quadrant, Forrester Wave). Own the end-to-end submission process—marshaling the right people, proof points, and customer references to secure and improve Mimecast’s position.
  • Competitive Intelligence: Monitor analyst coverage of competitors to surface insights that sharpen product roadmap priorities, refine market positioning, and arm sales with the intelligence they need to win.
  • Sales Enablement: Ensure analyst findings, publications, and endorsements are packaged and activated to simplify selling—equipping field teams with the third-party validation that accelerates deals.
  • Peer Reviews & Social Proof: Build and manage a Gartner Peer Insights center of excellence in partnership with product marketing, customer advocacy, and sales to amplify the voice of the customer.
  • Program Operations: Manage all AR operations including analyst agreements, budgets, strategy days, quarterly briefings, inquiries, and research requests—ensuring contracted services are fully utilized and delivering ROI.
  • Strategic Influence: Ensure analyst and influencer insights inform product strategy, go-to-market planning, and executive decision-making. Identify opportunities to leverage analyst relationships to build market awareness and thought leadership.
