About The Position

About our group:The reader process development team’s mission is to develop new processes and evaluate new materials for state-of-the-art thin film magnetic recording head technology. Specifically, the design and development of novel read transducers within the thin film recording head, utilizing many of the same techniques and methodologies employed in nanoscale semiconductor manufacturing.About the role - you will: Develop new best in class vacuum deposition, plasma etch, and ion mill processes for future transducer designs Evaluate and optimize new magnetic and dielectric materials Provide support for the reader development team on critical processes Maintain baseline processes for our latest designs Investigate of root cause process failure Design and coordinate critical experiments and provide in depth data analysis About you: Work effectively within both small and large teams, while taking initiative and executing on independent tasks to generate results Familiarity and experience with thin film processing and characterization is critical Talented engineer with a broad engineering background, a deeper understanding of vacuum deposition and etch processing Learn quickly and adapt to changing priorities Communication of results and issues effectively within our team, as well as collaborating well with other support, process and design groups is particularly important Your experience includes: Process development experience using semiconductor manufacturing techniques i.e thin film vacuum deposition, plasma etch, and/or ion mill. Previous experience with the characterization and development of magnetic and/or dielectric materials, especially for nano-scale devices Bachelor’s degree in engineering related field (i.e. Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Computer Engineering, Materials, Physics, or Information Technology) and 5+ years of experience or master’s degree in the same and 3+ years’ experience or PhD and 0+ years’ experience or equivalent experience and education.
