Senior Development Engineer
About The Position
FOX is seeking a highly skilled Senior Development Engineer with expertise in electro-mechanical and embedded control systems to drive innovation and technology development. This role will focus on developing new concepts through technology demonstrators and proof-of-concept prototypes in the domain of vehicle suspension, vehicle dynamics, and ride dynamics. As a key contributor to our R&D and innovation initiatives, you will work on cutting-edge solutions that push the boundaries of performance in vehicle dynamics. You will also be collaborating with experts from various disciplines, ensuring the successful execution of technology development projects.
Requirements
- Proficiency in embedded control systems principles, theories and concepts applied to vehicle chassis control and/or hydraulic & electronic actuators
- Experience developing electro-mechanical components, assemblies and systems
- Experience creating control algorithms utilizing rapid proto-typing hardware and software
- Proficiency C, Python, Simulink programing languages
- Proficiency working with CAN, CAN FD, ethernet, serial and other digital communication standards
- Ability to understand electrical diagrams, schematics and other design documentation
- Release designs following good documentation principles and configuration control methods
- Experience with automotive chassis systems
- Experience with CAD; 3D models, mechanical prints with GD&T
- Fundamental mechanical analysis, including statics, dynamics, stress and thermal
- Experience with suspension systems, shock absorbers and vehicle dynamics
- Demonstrated excitement to learn and quickly examine tough technical problems
- Basic project management (develop and maintain project scope, task lists, timelines)
- Some experience leading departmental and cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives from concept to delivery
- Excellent technical leadership ability
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to achieve project goals
- Understanding of all phases of the product development lifecycle including design, analysis, debug, verification, transfer to manufacturing, and sustainment
- Strong interpersonal skills including ownership, self-motivated, problem solving, analytical, team player, innovative, creative, communication skills and ability to develop & mutually thrive in working relationships
- Passion for creating compelling and innovative product concepts with an excellent commitment to customer value
Nice To Haves
- B.S. or M.S in Mechanical, Aerospace, Mechatronics, Electrical or Computer Science Engineering
- 8+ years developing electro-mechanical components, assemblies and systems
- 5+ years of embedded systems engineering
Responsibilities
- Development of electro-mechanical and embedded systems from concept to functional prototypes by collaborating with an interdisciplinary team
- Execute technical development/integration of electromechanical components, embedded systems and control algorithm development
- Collaboratively create functional criteria and technical requirements
- Perform and or coordinate validation testing and drive system-level improvements
- Create system level schematics, diagrams and documentation
- Conduct system modeling, simulation, and validation
- Support multiple projects, ensuring timely execution and alignment with strategic technology roadmaps
- Travel on location to support integration, testing and verification of concepts/proto types
