About The Position

World Wide Technology (WWT) is seeking an experienced Senior Developer to join our newly formed AI Native Engineering team within the IT Software Engineering CoE. This is a high‑impact, internal innovation role focused on advancing how WWT researches, builds, and scales AI‑native engineering capabilities across the enterprise. This is not a traditional engineering role. Its purpose is to establish the patterns, practices, tooling standards, reference architectures, and proof points that will mature WWT’s AI‑native engineering capability and ultimately scale to broader services and client engagements. The role carries high visibility across IT and WWT, including regular interaction with senior leaders and C‑level executives as we define the next generation of AI‑enabled engineering. You will research, apply, and teach—constantly expanding your own AI capabilities while enabling others to become AI Native. Forward Deployed AI Engineering & Experimentation Formulate and test hypotheses about AI value through real‑world experiments embedded within WWT teams. Bridge theory and production by rapidly iterating on AI‑native solutions, measuring impact, and refining approaches based on outcomes. Move fluidly between domains and teams, applying AI engineering tools to solve diverse technical and organizational challenges. AI Tooling, Platforms & Workflow Innovation Research, evaluate, and prototype emerging AI‑native engineering tools and platforms to identify high‑value adoption opportunities. Conduct comparative analyses and develop recommendations that improve engineering velocity, quality, and developer experience. Define and refine AI‑augmented engineering workflows, delivery patterns, and automation strategies. Partner with engineering teams to integrate approved tools into workflows and ensure smooth onboarding and operationalization. Proofs of Concept & Reference Architectures Design and deliver proofs of concept (PoCs) that demonstrate practical, scalable applications of AI‑native engineering. Build and maintain reference architectures, reusable frameworks, and reference implementations that accelerate enterprise adoption. Collaborate with product and engineering teams to transition validated PoCs into production‑ready patterns. Enablement, Teaching & Change Leadership Act as a consultative leader, teaching and enabling engineers and teams to become AI‑native. Develop high‑quality documentation, best‑practice guidance, training materials, and step‑by‑step tutorials. Partner with internal enablement groups to publish and socialize new standards and practices. Support organizational change efforts by identifying adoption barriers and recommending strategies to drive alignment and engagement. Community Engagement & Feedback Loops Host recurring office hours to support teams adopting AI‑native tools and workflows. Troubleshoot issues and provide tailored guidance based on real‑world usage. Gather insights and feedback from teams to inform future tooling strategy, standards, and enablement priorities. Communicate key updates, release notes, and impact assessments through internal briefings, newsletters, and stakeholder updates. What Makes This Role Unique High visibility on strategic, enterprise‑level AI initiatives with direct leadership engagement. Exposure to a wide variety of projects, domains, and teams across WWT. A culture that values experimentation, learning, and rapid iteration. Frequent project transitions that build broad organizational context while maintaining technical depth. A rare opportunity to help define how AI‑native engineering is practiced at WWT. You’re a Great Fit If You Thrive on continuous learning and experimentation. Have deep expertise in one or more engineering domains and use AI tools to expand beyond your core specialization. Are comfortable operating in dynamic environments where problems are still being defined. Bring a consultative mindset with strong communication skills and the ability to influence without authority. Are a curious, critical thinker and self‑starter who takes initiative without waiting for direction. Enjoy teaching, enablement, and helping others level up their AI capabilities.

Requirements

  • 7–10+ years of professional software development experience, ideally across multiple technology stacks and environments.
  • Demonstrated experience evaluating, adopting, or integrating AI‑related development tools, frameworks, or workflows.
  • Strong understanding of modern engineering practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, cloud‑native architectures, and platform engineering.
  • Proven ability to research, compare, and operationalize new tools or methodologies with minimal oversight.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience engaging senior leaders and executive stakeholders.
  • Experience designing and delivering proofs of concept, reference implementations, or technical demonstrations.
  • A self‑directed mindset with the ability to lead initiatives within a Center of Excellence model.
