About The Position

The Senior Designer provides design services for the Manager, Engineering & Technical Services, Mechanical and Structural Engineers and the Operations group. This is to enable the implementation of project work in accordance with safety, codes and standards, schedule, quality and cost control.

Requirements

College diploma in Mechanical or Civil Engineering Technician or Preferred: College diploma in Mechanical or Civil Engineering Technologist
5 years in mining related environment
AutoDesk design suite: AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit
Structural Engineering Software
MS Office
SharePoint
E-mail

Strategic thinking
Strong AutoCAD and SolidWorks skills
Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Word and Excel
Able to deliver effective results, meet tight deadlines, and targets
Knowledge of worldwide industry design and material standards
Knowledge of building and mining regulations
Knowledge of underground mine plants, shaft sinking, underground mining/development and mining equipment
Knowledge of modern steel fabrication equipment and practices
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
High level of attention to detail, neatness and accuracy
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Responsibilities

Having the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
Following Company health and safety standards and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to Supervisor.
Produce drawings from appropriate software accurately and in a timely manner as per specifications and project schedules
Preliminary and final design of structures, fixtures and components to support shaft sinking operations
Ensure drawings are produced in compliance with legislation, regulations, manufacturer specifications and safety policies
Check drawings done by other Designers or Engineers-in-Training
Conducts product and/or process research as required for projects with guidance of Manager, Engineering and Technical Services and make recommendations
Participate in discussions regarding design and risk management of designs
Travel to sites to inspect, take measurements and/or attend technical discussions as needed
Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath and client information
