The Supplier Designed Valves team is currently seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer located in Mossville, IL. The team has hydraulic valve design control for Large Mining Trucks, Off Highway Trucks, Large Wheel Loaders, Articulated Trucks, Underground Mining, Wheel Tractor Scrapers, Hydraulic Mining Shovels, and Surface Rock Drills. The candidate selected will collaborate with cross functional team members to develop hydraulic valves from concept to production ensuring products provide superior performance, durability, quality, and serviceability while meeting cost and delivery targets for Caterpillar machines. What You Will Do: Collaborate with suppliers to design new hydraulic valve components and solutions to promote better hydraulic system design through NPI. Provide engineering support for CPI and field issue resolution. Evaluate new products to improve design, cost and/or life for customers. Support Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process activities to ensure components are developed to meet time, cost, and quality requirements within budget. Manage project timelines with a broad range of activities from concept design, FMEA assessment, Prototype development, VPD, pilot production, lab testing, machine testing, resolution of field issues, and assurance of supply initiatives. Communicate progress & results to customers, suppliers, team members and functional community. Initiate process improvements and personal development. This position is focused on hydraulic valves with potential growth into sub-system responsibilities over time. Education requirement: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred), with demonstrated capability in relevant technical and professional functions.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with Creo and Teamcenter
  • Knowledge of Caterpillar NPI and CPI processes
  • Hydraulic knowledge.
  • Managing Multiple Priorities: Effectively prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and achieve organizational goals.
  • Balance competing demands and manage time efficiently.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective Communications : Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effectively communicate technical information with team members, customers, and suppliers.
  • Willing and able to collaborate with international teams in various time zones.
  • Knowledge of collaboration tools and processes such as APQP.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred), with demonstrated capability in relevant technical and professional functions.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred), with proven ability in relevant technical roles; or a Doctorate in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred), with demonstrated contributions in the field.
