About The Position

POSITION PURPOSE: Works closely with the Director of Operations in developing and overseeing control systems to prevent or deal with violations of STARS policies across programs. Will liaise with other departmental heads to ensure that day to day operations are in line with STARS internal policies. Responsible for conducting periodic internal reviews, providing employee training on compliance related topics, policies, or procedures, and verifying that all regulatory policies and procedures have been documented, implemented, and communicated. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversight of compliance-related components of case management operations and training for Case Management Coordinators across departments: DTA, DTT-DTS, CBE, GSE/C ommunity-based Employment Services, and VR Employment Services (JDR/WAT). Create, modify, update, and implement the STARS' program-specific policies. Coordinate the creation, review and implementation of policies and procedures resulting from new laws and regulations. Partner with management and staff to provide program compliance guidance for appropriate departments. Coordinate rollout and training of new or updated policies and directives when required. Conduct and report quarterly internal reviews of compliance systems to ensure their effectiveness to the executive team. Maintain documentation of compliance activities, such as complaints received or investigation outcomes. Identify compliance issues that require follow-up or investigation. Communicate organizational policies and procedures. Design or implement improvements in communication, monitoring, or enforcement of compliance standards. Discuss emerging compliance issues with management or employees. Monitor and report on remediation efforts. Keep informed regarding pending industry changes, trends, and best practices and assess the potential impact of these changes on organizational processes. Aid internal or external auditors in compliance reviews. File appropriate compliance reports with regulatory agencies. Maintain outstanding knowledge of laws, regulations, practices and policies applicable to areas of expertise. Provide compliance input and support to case management workflow and internal program teams, as necessary. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of managing programs that are responsive to regulations and guidance required by entities such as state, local, federal, and/or DDD.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; minimum of 5 or more years of experience in a similar role with a proven record of successful development and management of compliance frameworks in industry-related field.
  • OR any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Strong knowledge of industry processes and regulations within field of Developmental Disabilities.
  • Experience with policy and control development as it relates to meeting compliance requirements from relevant regulations such as DDD, VR, HIPAA, and others.
  • Must meet DES requirements for fingerprint clearance.
  • Must pass a criminal/background screening
