About The Position

The Database Administrator III serves as the technical owner and operational lead for the clients database platforms, supporting mission‑critical business systems across on‑premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. This role designs, operates, secures, and continuously improves highly available database ecosystems while providing strategic leadership for modernization, automation, and risk reduction initiatives. The DBA III owns end‑to-end accountability for database availability, performance, security, backup/recovery, patching, and disaster recovery for enterprise SQL Server, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Oracle, and supporting database technologies. This position operates with minimal supervision, sets technical direction, and is trusted to make production decisions that directly impact customer‑facing systems and regulatory commitments.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of related experience in database administration and architecture.
  • Experience with Oracle Database (19 or later preferred), Microsoft SQL Server 2017 and 2019, or other relational database platforms.
  • Experience with NoSQL database platforms such as MongoDB, Redis, or Azure Cosmos DB.
  • Hands-on experience managing databases in cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Experience designing and supporting high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Strong technical competency in database architecture, performance tuning, and security.
  • Logical, analytical, and solution-oriented approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with managed cloud database platforms including Azure SQL Managed Instance, AWS RDS, Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, Redis, and MongoDB Atlas.
  • Proven ability to manage hybrid and multi-cloud database environments.
  • Knowledge of Oracle backup and recovery scenarios and resource management.
  • Knowledge of database security hardening practices.
  • Ability to design new database clusters and high availability configurations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Focus on continuous improvement and delivering reliable, scalable database solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Researches, designs, implements, and manages enterprise database systems based on business and application requirements.
  • Leads complex database migrations, upgrades, and transformation initiatives.
  • Designs and supports high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Monitors, analyzes, and improves database performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Ensures database security, compliance, backup, and recovery strategies are properly implemented and maintained.
  • Recommends improvements to database architecture, standards, and operational processes.
  • Works within cross-functional teams to align database solutions with application and infrastructure strategies.
  • Provides mentorship and technical guidance to team members.
  • Supports production systems, including participation in on-call support as required.
  • Continues to update technical knowledge and stay current on emerging database technologies and AI-enabled operational tools.
